I read something on the Bodybuilding R/P forum which struck a huge chord with me.

"Once I learned what the US really was, a proto-communist revolution, I realized I was living in its failure where it never really got off the ground and had aligned with England. Christopher Hitchens wrote a book about this, by the way. Most people have no idea what American philosophy is and want the complete opposite of the intended system, a level playing field to foster genius. Philosophy is only as good as it's followers and if there are no followers, then it's dead.
American people love celebrity and rich people which are all versions of royalty, so I assume that some version of royalty will become the norm in the future, not equality and equal opportunity."

I find this comment so true about the current state of our country. Now don't get me wrong, I don't believe in stealing from the productive to subsidize the lazy....but where do we draw the line in allowing our society the freedom to enslave themselves to the very system our founding fathers tried to escape from?

What is freedom worth if people pervert it to mean "free to consume and be a mindless brainwashed idiot." We are supposedly the freest nation on earth, yet a sizable population of Americans here are utterly incapable of any independent thought or critical thinking. People are more than happy to make athletes and Hollywood filthy rich, while the budget for NASA is cut.

Where are our priorities as a society?
