40k is plenty to live on in the southeast. You can get a nice condo or a small house in most cities and you can sock away 500 dollars a month in savings. They key is to be a minimalist and not waste your money on pointless crap and get a cheap compact car.

It's amazing what 6's can get away with. I had two friends that were girls... 6's at best.. borderline fat.. shytty fake personality and massive over entitlement. Since they are 6's they get approached TONS by old guys and chodes and they just go to town on them.. free drinks, rides .. gossip tools then once they get the validation they move on to the next in a sick and gross cycle it makes me want to puke... hence the reason why they are no longer my friends.

It's one thing if you are a 6 and you have a good personality to back it up.. but most 6's overcompensate for not being a 9 and they feel like they need to show the world how much validation they get.

Not sure what state you live in, but Federal Income Tax in my state is 3.5% for a $25k-$50k range.

And $1200 for rent gets me a really nice condo or apartment over here.

Okay, I see where you got 33%.

Let's say your city income tax is 3%. You divided that by 12(months) so you would get 36% a year. The thing is, you're dividing each month by 36% so out of 40K that would be about -18k which is 22k a year. And out of a $3,300 pay check that is about $1,500 a month.

What I did was more accurate because there is no way it's 36%, or anywhere near that high, a year.

$3,300 a month - 6%(two pay periods) = -$200

So that would be $3,100 a month.

$3,100 x 12 = $37,200 a year instead of $40,000. That is about 6.3ish% a year. This works because 6% is about $2,400 and $40,000 - $2,400 = $37,400.

There is actually a $200 gap with this formula but I didn't account for triple pay months. Using two paychecks a month is still largely accurate.

If I were to do it by the whole year, I would get 72% a month, which is not accurate because that is taxing each month by 72% at $40k yearly rather than 3% at $3,300 monthly.

Yeah if you live in an apartment and don't contribute to retirement (a Scam btw because you can Not liquidate your entire retirement while retired without penalty...this is bull****), then yeah, you get totally shook down by the government taxes. I never noticed that the Federal took so much of a percentage because Tax returns made it seem like it was less. I never really sat down and thought/researched about it until now.
