There is a woman I recently had to break things off with even though I still hang with her. I think she's a great girl, but after awhile, I started losing my attraction toward her. Why? I was thinking this morning that she has all the characteristics that I'd consider AFC if it was a guy.
She's very needy. Calls all the time, even if I didn't return the calls, will call again before I even have the time to call back. Is emotionally clingy. Seems like she has oneitis for me. Will go out of her way to please me even if I don't do the same in kind. Seems like she's trying hard to make me like her. Seems insecure, etc. Despite these traits, she's a great person in character and an interesting person to talk to on a mental level. But on an emotional level, those traits were making me feel less and less attracted over time.
Thinking about it all this morning, why do we label AFCism as being a guy thing that only guys must fight in order to win over women. Are these traits anymore likely to cause you to feel attracted a girl if she has them? Don't you feel most attracted to girls when there is a challenge? When you have to work for it? Or do you want a girl who texts and calls you all day and tells you she loves you even when you do not say the same to her?
I'm starting to think AFCism is not just a male disease. It's a human condition. It's a sign that someone is not living to their potential and likely has issues. Conquering AFCism isn't only important in attracting the opposite sex, it's also important career wise, or doing anything of importance you need to accomplish. Do you think an AFC of either sex would ever become president?
I think EVERYONE should work on game. Male or female. And by game, I don't mean playing games, I mean have these inner game qualities that make anyone male or female a prize to be won and never taken for granted once won over. An inner confidence, non-clingyness, non-neediness and strength in character.
