So I asked a girl from one of my classes right after our exam, and got the "we'll talk" response. I had told her Friday, but it came and went. No big deal... I've got other things to do. The plot thickens when my sister and I go to rent a movie that night (it just so happens one of my sister's friend's older sister is best friends with the girl - got all that?) and she mentions the girl saying something about needing to call me.

Now, I've known her for more than 3 years, and she can be a ***** sometimes, but this doesn't seem like her. The way I see it, I've got two options: one, call her up and say, "When someone says we'll talk, that implies some sort of communication" and go from there, basically being an ass about her not calling; or, two, I can say something like "busy Memorial weekend?" and be kind and leave her an out to make excuses.

In all, I'm not overly worried about dating her, it would be nice though. I'm more interested in what broke down between us. Any suggestions?

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

well if her best friend was told by the girl you're into that she "needs to call you" then let HER call. meanwhile, catch up on life and go do some fun stuff and maybe you can talk about it over the phone.
