I highly recommend this book, for anyone. For the most part, it is directed to the business facets of life, cutthroat. However, the facet of dating and love in life are seemingly not too distant from this at times, depending on your position. If you wish to improve your position, again, I highly recommend picking up this book. It's only $15 -US. Look for it's own display - National Best Seller List. Written by Robert Greene.

Here are the 48 Laws:

1.Never outshine the Master.

2.Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use your enemies.

3.Conceal Your Intentions.

4.Always say less than necessary.

5.So much depends on your reputation - guard it with your life.

6.Court attention at all costs.

7.Get others to do the work for you, but take the credit.

8.Make other people come to you - use bait if necessary.

9.Win through your actions, never through argument.

10.Infection: Avoid the unhappy and unlucky.

11.Learn to keep people dependant on you.

12.Use selective honesty and generosity to disarm your victim.

13.When asking for help, appeal to people's self-interest, never to their mercy or gratitude.

14.Pose as a friend, work as a spy.

15.Crush your enemy totally.

16.Use absence to increase respect and honor.

17.Keep others in suspended terror: Cultivate an air of unpredictability.

18.Do not build fortresses to protect yourself - isolation is dangerous.

19.Know who you're dealing with - do not offend the wrong person.

20.Do not commit to anyone.

21.Play a sucker to catch a sucker - seem dumber than your mark.

22.Use the surrender tactic: Transform weakness into power.

23.Concentrate your forces.

24.Play the perfect courtier.

25.Re-create yourself.

26.Keep your hands clean.

27.Play on people's need to believe, to create a cult-like following.

28.Enter action with boldness.

29.Plan all the way to the end.

30.Make your accomplishments seem effortless.

31.Control the options: Get others to play with the cards you deal.

32.Play to people's fantasies.

33.Discover each man's thumbscrew.

34.Be royal in your own fashion: Act like a king to be treated like one.

35.Master the art of timing.

36.Disdain things you cannot have: Ignoring them is the best revenge.

37.Create compelling spectacles.

38.Think as you like but behave like others.

39.Stir up waters to catch fish.

40.Despise the free lunch.

41.Avoid stepping into a great man's shoes.

42.Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter.

43.Work on the hearts and minds of others.

44.Disarm and infuriate with the mirror effect.

45.Preach the need for change, but never reform too much at once.

46.Never appear too perfect.

47.Do not go past the mark you aimed for; in victory, learn when to stop.

48.Assume formlessness.

--------------------------------

Like I said, it was written in a wordly fashion; but so much, if not all, can be applied to dating, seduction, etc.

"To some people the notion of consciously playing power games - no matter how indirect - seems evil, asocial, a relic of the past. They believe they can opt out of the game by behaving in ways that have nothing to do with power. You must be aware of such people, for while they express such opinions outwardly, they are often among the most adept players at power.

While of those titles seem wise, however, my general impression is that a person with such traits would be a horror to have around. Now, I haven't read the book, but it would be terrible if everyone were like that.

I understand your reserve with the thought of such, genuinely, but the world is not a pretty, perfect place.

If you could peek into the minds of other's whom YOU know, there you would find horror never before imagined. Better to be a master, and use the knowledge with your best judgement, than to be a victim of it:

"Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires" - THE PRINCE, Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-1527

I've read the book and it's a pretty much a damn good book if you really read, absorb, and carefully realize all the abundance of nuggets of wisdom in here. And Machiavelli is really is a damn ruthless person after that quote, but i get his point. I don't know but they've said in the bible somewhere that you have to be...

"Good as a LAMB but WISE as a SERPENT!"

Im pretty paraphrasing Machiavelli quote.

Hey guys!

Read (especially) Law #3 which is "Conceal your Intentions". This law is very relative to our DJ knowledge and skills here!

Armand,

Awesome, totally useful and helpful post!

This is the kind of stuff that really kicks ass on the Internet, when someone intelligent gives a thought that's helpful. Way to put in extra effort and list the laws. All struck me as incredibly wise. I'm requesting the book from the library today.

I just got this book last week, and I can't put it down. If anything, it's worth every single last penny merely for the intellectual purposes.

Character is destiny.

Character shows in four virtues: Fortitude, prudence, temperance, and justice. A person with good character will persist and endure, chose carefully and thoughtfully, control emotion with reason, operate with equity and fairness. By contrast, a person with poor character will quit easily, behave thoughtlessly, allow mood to conquer intelligence, and act selfishly.

I've read the 48 Laws of Power. I have found the following chapters relate directly to being a DJ:

Law 3: Conceal Your Intentions.

Basic DJ tactic to never let the woman know how interested you are. By flirting with other woman (to make her interested in you), you can conceal that you are really after another woman.

Law 4: Always Say Less Than Necessary.

A key to getting a woman interested in you is to *never* reveal too much about yourself. You must remain a mystery.

Law 6: Court Attention at All Costs.

A DJ always trys to have a good time (regardless of chicks around or not): laughing, making jokes and so on so it appears he is an interesting and fun guy. Such behaviour will attract female attention.

Conversely, by holding back and remaining mysterious if not enigmatic, it can also
attract attention.

Law 8: Make Other People Come to You - Use Bait if Necessary.

The true key of seduction is making a woman come to you or make her chase you. By being a challenge, you can create the illusioin she is in control (chasing you) while in fact you are the one controlling her.

Law 9: Win Through Your Actions, Never Through Argument.

Arguing with chicks is pointless. They are emotional creatures that really only respond to feeling. For example, your chick tests you and commands you to, "come here now!" Instead of arguing with her saying, "That's not nice. Don't order me around." Get on your hands and knees and say, "Yes, your Royal Higness, my high princess, your every wish is my command." By acting in such a manner, you will get your point across by making her *feel* the import of her transgression.

Law 10: Infection: Avoid the Unhappy and Unlucky.

Don't go out with loosers or chicks with major problems.

Law 11: Learn to Keep People Dependant on You.

Be a source of pleasure for a chick, she will find it hard to get rid of you.

Law 12: Use Selective Honesty and Generosity to Disarm Your Victim.

Never try to seriously BS a chick. They have built in radars for it. As long as what you reveal can not back fire on you, be truthful on all occasions while don't ever revealing too much.

Law 14: Pose as a Friend, Work as A Spy.

Knowing on what a chick wants is fundamental in being able to manipulate her. While remaining coy, ask questions about their exs, likes, dreams and so on to get key insights into what they *really* want.

Law 16: Use Absence To Increase Respect and Honor.

A fundamental DJ principle of remaining a challenge. Never appear to needy, and only see the chick once a week.

Law 20: Do not Commit to Anyone.

When dating a chick, always date other chicks. Never commit to one unless you are ready to marry.

Law 22: Use the Surrender Tactic: Transform Weakness into Power.

You are on a date with a chick. All of a sudden she bumps into this other guy, then sits on his knee and starts flirting with him. Instead of allowing her the satisfaction of totally belittling you and crushing your ego, surrender by simply leaving. This will anger her because she did not acheive the full satisfaction of humiliating you.

Law 26: Keep Your Hands Clean.

Always appear to a chick (especially when you first meet her) that you are a decent guy and not a serial killer.

Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness.

Always appear confident and bold with a chick. When going for a kiss (or anything else for that matter), do not hesitate at all. Timidity is a huge turnoff.

Law 33: Discover Each Man's Thumbscrew.

In the case of chicks, find her vunerabilities and cheif weaknesses. It may be sometimes necessary to play on her weaknesses to weaken her ego so you can fill the void.

Law 34: Be Royal in Your own Fashion: Act Like a King to Be Treated Like One.

As Pook would say, act like you are a great catch -- an awesome Prince. Expect only the best, and demand it.

Law 35: Master the Art of Timing.

With chicks timing is paramount. There is times to seriously withdraw from her and times to act bold and strike with force when a weakness is present.

Law 36: Disdain Things You Cannot Have: Ignoring them is Best Revenge.

A chick is disrespectful to you and blows you off. The next time you see her, you act civil and *completely* ignore her. The lack of attention you show her will drive her nuts and is the sweetest of revenges.

Law 37: Think as You Like But Behave Like Others.

You are a genious and full of great ideas. On a date with a chick you don't tell her your great ideas but indulge in the common small talk that the majority of the population engages in.

Law 43: Work on The Heart and Minds of Others.

Always work on a person's individual psychologies and appealing to a person's own vanity. Find out what a chick wants, what she emotionally responds to and push her emotional buttons.

Law 44: Disarm and Infuriate with the Mirror Effect.

You on a date with your chick and she starts to flirt with a guy next to you. You find the most beautiful woman in the room, buy her a drink and start flirting with her and tell your chick, "Hey meet my new girlfriend." Mirror her moves to shove what she is doing to you in her face.

Boy that's about it. If any other guys have read the book, can you add to anything that I have mentioned here?
