Squats

warm up

95lbs static hold for 10 secondsx2

285lbs static hold for 10 seconds

They were heavy but not anything I couldn't handle yet. Will start with 285 next week and up to 305lbs.

Latt pull down static holds

did not warm up

235lbs for 6 seconds
250lbs for 5 seconds (both sets were extremely heavy)

Barbell biceps

105lbs 10 seconds
115lbs 5 seconds (this was very heavy)

Vsquats
These were full ROM's as I assumed first week of statics would be light, and i would probably want to supplement a bit with atleast 1 workout in each muscle group.

Seated back row machine

215lbs for 5 seconds
230lbs for 5 seconds (this was so heavy, i had my spotter push it for me then let go. I barely held it and it started going down like negatives. Not sure if this is okay or not)

For anyone reading this journal and for my own records, the reason the workouts aren't always consistent is because of time I have available at the gym (40 minutes max), and the availability of equipment. I try my best to find a similar workout or machine.

This week was the first week I'm doing static holds. Weights so far, aren't too heavy, but I wanted to try it out first without hurting myself. The goal is to be increasing by 20lbs or so each week minimum so it will get alot worse. I plan to do static holds for about 1-1.5 months. Tomorrow is deadlift day. I don't think I want to try static holds for deads.....sounds like an accident waiting to happen, trying my hardest to pull 350lbs and then hold it for 5-10 seconds.

was on vacation for 8 days but still managed to run 2.5 miles every other day and hit the gym (****tiest gym that only had 3 machines and no freeweights). That being said, i didn't get fatter, my mile time trimmed down to 6:30 outdoors, but my strength probably suffered a bit.

yesterdays session was hard, I was sweating alot, but Im not particularly sore. Might add in 1 full ROM set for each exercise.

Set PR's today for my Cardio day.

1 mile on treadmill: 6:09

6x3 box jumps above half an inch above belly button height.

used a tape measure to see how high i've been jumping. my current box jump sets are at 43 inches. I thought it was closer to 50 inches, oh well.

So I found out, through some research that pro athletes like JJ Watt, are maxing out at 59.5inches for their box jump. I was very confident that since i was doing doing 6x3 at 43 inches, I could easily do 50 inch box jump once. My co worker was saying that pro athletes are 10 inches higher and i could not do it. I'm sometimes ****y and was so confident i said $1k i make it. We eventually settled on friendly loser buys winner lunch.

I'm stretching and prepping for box jumps at 50 inches (it's my nipple height), but people are swarming that area. Finally I get there, do a practice jump in mid air, and go for it. It's fvcking high as **** and i fvcked up the first jump and land softly on my knees.

I try again and barely make it, bet won! It fvcked up my work out as I kept hovering around the area and not working out my legs to preserve them for the jump while trying to make efficient use of my time working out biceps and back.

TL:DR
Cleared 50 inch box jump and won a free lunch (hopefully).

Played some basketball today and my jumping is the highest it's ever been. At best, i was consistently able to touch rim and sometimes grab rim. This was back in highschool/early college. Today, i was able to consistently grab rim. Felt good, but my goal is to dunk. Still have a long way to go.

Made a bet with my room mates girlfriend to beat her in a 5k run. She's around 20-21 minutes so i need to be faster than that.

To up my mileage, today's run was

1.5 miles finished at 10:10. That's roughly a 20:20 pace for a 5k. I'll probably need to be around 19 minutes on the treadmill atleast but overall, today was a good run.

Don't even know how to feel about today. I tried for 1 rep max on bench press and failed to get 225lbs.

This time last month, i was hovering around 1-3 reps of 205lbs on my 3rd set of lifting. I go in fresh today, pop a quick stretch and go for the rep and get it up 3 inches, before i freeze and my spotter helps tap it up for me.

was out all last week at a conference, so really didn't get to work out much besides run and use the hotel gym (they really can't call these gyms).

Will finish out the last 2 weeks of static holds this week and next. Although, I do have another local conference next monday and Tuesday. Will need to make it work.

Well, decided at the gym today to transition out of static holds. Reasoning because im almost at the end of the 2 months, and the bench was just getting too dangerous without a spot so i just opted to cut it there.
