"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

this one has my respect for her stance on tax avoidance in the UK, she could justifiably go abroad and save a small fortune in doing so, she chose not too..

JK Rowling in today's Times on tax...

"I chose to remain a domiciled taxpayer for a couple of reasons. The main one was that I wanted my children to grow up where I grew up, to have proper roots in a culture as old and magnificent as Britain’s; to be citizens, with everything that implies, of a real country, not free-floating ex-pats, living in the limbo of some tax haven and associating only with the children of similarly greedy tax exiles.

A second reason, however, was that I am indebted to the British welfare state; the very one that Mr Cameron would like to replace with charity handouts. When my life hit rock bottom, that safety net, threadbare though it had become under John Major’s Government, was there to break the fall. I cannot help feeling, therefore, that it would have been contemptible to scarper for the West Indies at the first sniff of a seven-figure royalty cheque. This, if you like, is my notion of patriotism. On the available evidence, I suspect that it is Lord Ashcroft’s idea of being a mug".

well done to her

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Not sure if I got it right but what she says is that she would rather deprive her sons of the tax money she could save out of loyalty for the welfare state that would probably make their life harder later on?

I'm sure britain is a great country with an impressive tradition but considering the culture which is taking place there as much as the rest of the anglo world Im not totally sure I would like to have them live there instead of growing with the children of some "greedy ex-pats" who moved away from a state which steal to them to feed the state and the parasites which provides votes.

I wonder then which is the concept of "greedy" to many women, they call greedy a man who wants to keep his own money while they have no harsh word for some scum who doesnt work yet expect the gov to feed him.

the same welfare state which supprted them when she had f cck all? she is putting back way more than she took out. I hardly think her sons wil be 'deprived', if her views are consistant they to will share some of her ethos and understand whasy she is doing what she does.
Britain still has a lot going for it despite the parasites, if anything she shames the parasite as much as the tax theives, she is an example of doing something for your country, not milking it for all its worth

To each his own, unlike most supporters of welfare state I recognize other citizens the freedom to chose to stay in or out and their freedom to choose.

It will never happen that I will demand or force someone to pay money he doesnt want to pay for the reason that is "for his own good".
I am mother to no one nor I think the government should.

So if she thinks that such behaviour is the best choice fine to me, thats what free will means.

Dear BeTheMan,
As an interesting aside,an acquaintance of mine is a self made Sqillionaire, made it gambling!.....He and a few associates have been fingered by the Tax Department here....Multi millions are debatably owed......He and his Family have departed for greener pastures on the Isle Of Man,part of the British Isles....So Dear Old Mother Englands Tax structure, can't be that bad......My Family left in the early fifties,we were 10 Pound Migrants, that's what the six week voyage cost us!.....Leaving your Country even then didn't mean leaving your Culture, how much less now...Anyway,soon enough,we shall all be a Unicultured,Brindle coloured breed, sitting watching a reality World in little bubbles.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Scara, the IOM is in itself, a tax haven, yes its part of the British Isles but a different tax system. if I wanted to take relief in a tax haven, the IOM would not be my choice, Id prefer Jersey or Guernsey.

Hrrmm? JK Rowling is evidently convinced that the government can do a better job spending her money on her pet causes than she can? Absurd, and the most perverted kind of "altruism".

She, and the people she wants to help, would be better off if she got creative with her taxation, and then directly invested that money in job creation/poverty relief. Why? Because we (the government) don't spend other people's money as wisely as our own. That money will be wasted, diluted, and misdirected.

The only thing her generous tax contributions will succeed in doing, is making JK Rowling feel good about "giving back".

I'm not saying she's a sh!tty human being, she's just a bit clueless about economics - there are far worse crimes. She's basically well intentioned, though I do think she's more concerned with feeling good about her contribution rather than doing real, tangible good for the people she claims to want to help. Paying the State via your taxes to do a half-arsed job of poverty relief on your behalf barely counts as altruism.

I don't really prize altruism all that much myself, but I know when it's being used in a self-serving way.

IF she was truly altruistic, she wouldn't have to brag about it. Have I took out ads in the paper talking about what I give to charity? NO. Do I have competitors who do? yes(give a kid a smile day etc.). Is it out of a sense of "giving back" or a sense of advertising so people think I am a good guy and do business with me?

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I think she's done more than enough for humanity already!

The woman spawned what is probably a billion dollar industry. Think of all the jobs and wealth that now exist thanks to JK Rowling. Think of all the consumers who enjoyed her product so much they voluntarily parted with their own money again and again. The JK Rowling business has already done more to benefit people than her taxes or her "charity" ever could.

We intuitively feel that the unidirectional, unconditional nature of charity makes it "better", more noble. But it's actually these aspects that make it less effective at producing persistent change than "exploitative" market systems, i.e. China expects a return on its investment in Africa, but it's proving a hell of a lot more effective at permanently raising standards of living than unconditional Western aid.
