"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Ive met a lot of girls in what I call a "one to five minute" window of opportunity. This happens in introductions, grocery stores, gas stations, movies, etc.

My friend, this is the ultimate sales "cold call".

You have to achieve three things instantly:
A. That youre NORMAL
B. That youre Confident/****y
C. That youre mind-imagination-personality- is what i call QUIRKY. This is not WEIRD. It is a form of communicational intelligence. It is using WIT to FLIRT.

The real goal here is to make you UNFORGETTABL-Y different but not WEIRD. Its a balancing act.

Have you ever seen the movie GOOD WILL HUNTING? Theres a scene in there that is magic.

When Matt Damon defends a girl in a bar by being both intelligent and masculine.

But THEN HE WITHDRAWS.

He doesnt schlep up to the girl and ask for a date. Or even her phone number. He doesnt even TALK to her. He IGNORES HER.

She is so amazed by this that she WALKS UP TO HIM and GIVES HIM HER PHONE NUMBER. WITHOUT ASKING.

Here- s a bit of the conversation:

Minnie Driver: "Maybe we can get together for a drink"

Matt Damon: "Why dont we just get a bag of caramels?"

Minnie Driver: "Im sorry?"

Matt Damon: "When you think about it, having some reason to get together as arbitrary as drinking fermented potatos makes just the amount of sense as sharing a bag of caramels"

PAUSE::::)))

The deal is sealed.

Her interest level is now at 97 percent.

He's shown hes a man. He's shown hes smart. Hes shown he doesnt in any way need her. He showed that he has a quirky wit.

When you are meeting in that first few minutes, you'll have to come up with a line that works in that situation.

HER So what do you do for a living?

YOU I breathe.

Her WHAT?

You Every four seconds I breathe. It keeps me living. You should try it. You look a little blue.

LAME is OK, she'll get the general idea....you take chances, and have an imagination. Youre DIFFFERENT

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I find the 'what do you do for a living' line silly and full of risks of confused responses. I must try it someday.
