"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

whattup don juans.

check it.

i was djing the other night. girl comes up to me.

says im cute. i respond with eye contact followed with an "I know" and a wink.

after some small talk, I asked for her number...

she writes it down and says " you better use that"

I end my set, and walk out of my booth without even looking at her and just went straight home.

so 3 days later a mutual friend of ours calls me and i reject the call. she was with this mutual friend.

friend leaves a voicemail saying, hey im with _____ here she is. she gets on the phone and says " hi, we were just talking about you, so we thought we'd call"

I call the following evening. her roommate picks up. i leave a message with my number. she calls me back within 2 minutes.

but here's the kicker. she goes "hey, have we met?"

me: yeah.

her: where?

me: you must have been drunk then...

her: wait, where?

me: name of the place.

her: OHH MY GOD, im so happy you called. now I have your number and I'm gonna stalk you.

but I have to go to dinner now, so Im gonna call you back."

me: its kinda LATE for dinner isn't it?

her: explains.....

after one minute she says, lemme call you back.

I respond " I'll talk to you soon" and click. I hang up right away with her still on the other line.

so its been 24 hours and she hasnt called.

i think im gonna next this one.....

any thoughts?

It's pretty obvious she wants your balls. Personally, I'd just kick back and relax and let her call back...it's her turn (she said she'd call you back) and at this point I woudln't call her flaky, you're probably thinking about her too much since you cared enough to post here.

Forget about her until she calls and go get more numbers at the clubs just for ****s and giggles.

btw. In my experience chicks who say anything remotely in the realm of "I'm going to stalk you", even as a joke, are 50/50 Cool chicks / crazy psycho chicks so watch out for the signs...
