Exactly. And the same applies to women everywhere, not just Asia.
People (both men and women) are fundamentally selfish. It's an evolutionary trait; those who were not selfish did not survive long enough to pass on their genes. Another evolutionary trait that all humans have is ability to adapt to new environments.
Take the most brow-beaten, beta male westerner you can think of. We all know a guy like that, someone who's married to a domineering, unattractive/overweight woman to whom he refers as "she who must be obeyed". Now put him in some impoverished sh!thole country where women treat him like a king because they see him as their ticket out of poverty. After a while, the hapless beta is going to start acting differently, maybe become a bit of a player and start treating women as disposable. And why wouldn't he? Back home, he was invisible to women. And now he's all of a sudden the centre of attention.
The same applies to women. Take the most humble, obedient woman from some third world village or shanty town and transport her to America or Europe. If she's attractive enough, she's going to get a lot of attention from men. And she's going to learn about local customs, including matrimonial laws. Sooner for later (and in the age of internet and social media, it will probably be sooner), she will understand that she's sitting on a goldmine and start act accordingly. It's practically inevitable.
