"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Every time i call up a girl for the first time i get nervous as one could imagine and somehow f*ck everything up. Sometimes i think its the tone of voice that reflects how nervous i am or i sound monotone. Ill have an idea of what to say but then ill get nervous and act like a retard. I figured after having done it a few times id be alright but i STILL get nervous. After the first time i called one girl, the next time i called she acted like she couldnt hear me then hung up. I cant really figure out what im doing thats SO wrong, but i dunno. How do yall handle the first call? What do you talk about? Im used to making out with a girl one night when we're drunk then calling sometime later with the ice being broken.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

It's really not all that dificult in principle. You really shouldn't stay on the phone too long anyway, just long enough to set up a meeting between the two of you.

I found calling on the phone even easier than talking in person, because when you call on the phone you can take as long as you need to get mentally prepared beforehand. It might be a good idea, also, if you're nervous, to write down what you plan on saying that way you can focus your mind on how you're saying it rather than what you're going to say.
