Start asking the people who are paid to talk to you (so they can't reject you) how their shift/morning/afternoon/evening is going, like clerks and waitresses.

And then LISTEN to what they say.

Because guess what?

They are going to TELL YOU what they most want to talk about. So then talk about it. (Want tips on how to do that, ask.)

For when you can talk about with some intelligence what others want to talk about most, you are WELCOME in ANY group!
