It's not a hard requirement but it's more difficult to get girls without friends.

It's like how you don't need money to get girls, but how will you pay for dates if you're totally broke?

If you can't make friends that could suggest your personality is not good, which casts doubt on your game.

There's aspects of dating that are harder solo such as social events (harder to have fun and not spam approach if you're by yourself)
Or reputation in a social circle (no friends = no social proof. But you could turn that around into a positive by making friends as soon as you arrive)

it's harder to approach sets of women solo. You'd need to have balls of steel, but at social events women are usually in pairs or groups.

However It's definitely better to approach solo than to not approach at all, or to have lame loser wingmen, or "friends" that c0ckblock you, etc.
