Hi All,

Anyone have good resource for helping me with the financial devastation of a divorce? I married in California to a woman, who came in with nothing into a 3-year marriage and is trying to walk out with half my assets through a litigious divorce that has lasted 3+ years and is nearly bankrupting me. If anyone out there has any help advice on good asset preservation/attorneys, please contact me.

Hmm. Do you have kids? DadsDivorce.com is a great resource for dude's going through a divorce; kids or not. Cali is a community property state. That means, everything you've purchased since married is legally half hers; unless you have a pre-nup. Your attorney should also be a men's right's attorney, not just a regular divorce attorney. To be clear, there are female men's rights attorneys as well.

Optimally, the best option would be to settle without bringing in scumbag lawyers.

The fairest division is where both parties are equally unhappy...

You committed to it now it's time to get out...That comes at a price. That price is 1/2 of the assets you acquired in the 3 year time period. Plain and simple. Accept that it is unfair, and make your best deal. Where you will save money is by keeping billable hours to a minimum.

Heed your attorney's advice and get out of that mudhole as quickly as possible. I ended a 20 year marriage, and rebuilt my retirement to Pre divorce levels in 5 years. I kept the house (after buying her out) I would have been making the payments on anyway.

Focus on keeping the relationships with your KIDS if there are any. As for complaining "it isn't FAIR"? Yeah well we knew that going in. (or at least you do now). You are GONNA HAVE A REAL HARD YEAR/ Plan on it. But you have time to recover.

But like @Billtx49 mentioned Cali is a horrible state in terms of family law, (and for many other reasons too), and you need to get fvck out of it.

And you must get a really good lawyer. However prepare yourself for losing all your shiet, because the chance that is happens is very real..
This will never weigh in your favor(It never does for most guys). Almost in all cases the women win in family court.
Especially in leftist Cali.

Rare for a judge to do that. You can appeal that ruling.

Rare for a judge to do that. You can appeal that ruling.

Please do tell me than you @docafc have a good strong prenup validated by a good lawyer.
In Cali you could end up losing not just 50% but 100% of your stuff which is what happened to this guy in the video below.
