I've always tried to deny my outer self will have an effect on my inner self as i believe that its a weak way to gain self esteem and confidence. For example i put myself in a situation where what happens if my legs got cut off or my face got heavily disfigured. I still want to feel self worth. But i have to say getting big in the gym has made me feel more manly and made me feel more sure of myself and a dgaf attitude. Does your outer self have that big of an effect on how you view yourself? Is there an evolutionary advantage to this? Like what even is beauty. If society never even chose what is beautiful or not would we till know what is considered aesthetic? I think so as animals like the peacock and the lions mane are visually appealing to the opposite sex. Is it symmetry? I know this is a lot of questions but i believe this question can have huge potential and ill be active as im genuinely curious.
