NYC has long been held as one of the best cities for single men in North America, or well it used to be. As someone who fell in love with the city way back, at some point, I saw the city decline year after year from its usual self before COVID-19 and the lockdowns hit. Articles out there say that NYC is dead and never coming back, given that this is a game forum I want to talk about a different kind of death that NYC died, the death of game in NYC.
NYC was no longer the gritty rude people and sociopaths, instead it was a city to reinvent yourself whether you were a hipster in Williamsburg or the Peter Pan in Manhattan.
Every year after 2014 or so, I saw NYC's nightlife decline by significant margins. A city that welcomed European beauties and dimes across the globe now started to welcome the wrong kind of demographic which I will get to later. The party ended and if it did not end, it sure as heck got a lot less fun. Manhattan was no longer Manhattan, it had changed and for the worse as well, Brooklyn went with it. So here are some lessons I learned about game from the decline of NYC.
Whenever the mainstream says a city is good for "game", it is living on borrowed time.
As soon as they lauded NYC as being the land of single women, every other guy across the globe flooded into the city. Now the reality is that most men who have to flood to another city for sex are not actually higher SMV because higher value guys make it work in most places, even if the ratio might not be as favorable. Yet what happened is that just being announced as the place to be for game and meeting women gave NYC the kind of attention that eventually leads to the downfall in game.
On a large enough scale, you will suffer from actions of simps, lower value men, and just the fact that there are a lot of men.
It is not even that these men are legit competition but the problem is that they are there. What this means is that while you might not deal with a Chad, you are dealing with simps and cringey PUAs who are annoying women en masse. Sure, women are still attainable and able to be gamed even in these circumstances, but you do have to deal with more objections and your game has to be a lot sharper. Even if you do get laid though, there is another downfall to the changing demographics.
The wrong kind of transplants (be they male or female) also kill the vibe of the city, especially in nightlife.
I remember NYC when Scandinavian women and cool Midwestern dudes were the norm, it was a hell of a vibe. Then when the Big Tech Mafia infiltrated the city, you were left dealing with feminist womyn from San Francisco, annoying guys, annoying PUAs from garbage cities, and toxic women from cites meant to be terrible for men. It's not enough that your narcissistic broad from Toronto makes Toronto terrible, she has to flood into Manhattan and infest the nightlife there with her friends. The nightclubs became less fun and the partied died out, it did not have the lively and fun vibe it used to have.
NYC nightclubs were no longer havens for a good time, they became high school popularity contests because people from places like LA, San Fran, and Toronto who moved to the city en masse brought their demeanor with them. If anyone has dealt with women from the Bay Area and Toronto before, you know what I am talking about.
What makes a city great is the kinds of people that flood to it, what ruins it are the kinds of people that flood to it once it becomes popular and hip.
After Giuliani made the city safer, there was a period when NYC was a place for the midwesterner wanting to start a new life, a European exploring what America is about, or the struggling artist wanting to explore the diversity the city offered. When a lot of these people and other well meaning folks came into NYC, it was something special. Overtime, places like Williamsburg got turned into nice hipster havens with local East Coast and European talent. These were genuine people who loved the city for what it was, the city represented something to them.
Then you become popular and narcissists get you on their radar. Now you had people from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Toronto which are total dumps for game eye NYC. These are otherwise plain toxic people without much going for them who have nothing special to contribute, they are just status and power hungry maniacs who live for the selfie (the women are even worse than the men). Overtime, these types flooded into NYC and what I mentioned above happened. You can blame big tech companies for a lot of this.
Then we start again, perhaps another city comes alive and is good for a few years before this nasty cycle repeats itself.
The beauty is that I have no doubt in my mind that somewhere in the US another NYC pre-tech infestation is waiting to spring up. The very people who made NYC special and made game in it amazing will no doubt go to other places, sick of the toxic transplants as much as I am. Then from there, that place will spring to life and be game heaven.
We will enjoy it until some idiot goes around hyping it up. Then mainstream media will catch on to it. Then the very people who ruined in NYC will flood into it. Then that place will be ruined. Then a new place will start.
