Damn that was cringey. Canned responses and awkward body language/conversation. You can see how awkward the girls feel when interacting with this dude, I would bet that none of the numbers he got replied. They probably just gave their number (or a fake one) to escape from the situation.

There's different types of laughter. This was mostly awkward laughter. You see, laughing is a way to release tension and those awkward approaches sure built tension, but not much comfort.

Imagine a girl you're not attracted to at all, comes up to you on the street and pull a conversation like that. You awkwardly laugh along to be polite hoping they go away soon. This is what these girls are doing, because out in public in broad daylight they don't want to come off as rude.

This is certainly not a way to (successfully) pick up girls using insults.
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I think that in this day and age, the girls know what the guys are up to. Using negs and insults as a pickup technique is a pretty mainstream idea at this point. When some guy comes up and makes some awkward attempts at insults (like this video), I'm sure most women know what is going on.

I've had girls laugh at these kinds of jokes only to later tell me how I made them feel bad...

No, you definitely shouldn't emulate them. Not great negs and they have super weak body language.
