I'll start off with myself.

- Took voice lessons for months and perfomed at the recital to be able to sing "Home by Michael Buble" in front of hundreds of people.

I believe I will be able to pump up myself confidence level with the process.

- Attended a workshop to be able to Join a theater play and performed "Les Misables" as one of the guards. Critical moment was to be able to exchange dialogue with the priest character.

I have zero experience in this field

- Recently taking online guitar lessons both acoustic and electric. Already performed in front of many people in a Mall.

Now looking for more gigs to play in a local bar with my band mates and friends.

- Fixed my long hair and did a premium hair rebond at the salon.

Livin my life the way it should be :D

How bout you?

Please be happy to share what you have done so far :)

Let's enjoy life together! :)

Gone out as much I could to the bars, clubs for a year straight, learning game and learning how to talk to strangers.

Saved my life..

I took up yoga... everyone that knew me thought that was nuts... it really was outside the norm for me. However, it was the best self-improvement decision I've ever made.

Kudos OP, the for the guitar and vocal work. Keep it up.

Off the top of my head, I've traveled to Europe in my early 20s alone away from home for the first time and I had to navigate my way around before smartphones existed.

Rappelled off a bridge 150+ ft above the ground, skydiving, scuba dived 100+ deep in an ocean cold af. When I resurfaced, my diving buddy told me I had a blood vessel pop in my nose yet he didn't want to alarm me at 100 ft and waited to tell once we resurfaced that it had happened.

As far as the game is concerned, in my mid-20s, I approached a few hundred women in a year. Attended a Juggler Method workshop to improve during a PUA crazy phase. I went out almost every night and day. That felt crazy.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

That is something that I would need to improve too.

I knew you would comment on my thread. I could tell from your recent post mentioning you took guitar lessons too.

Well it's a good thing I have a fellow guitarist on this forum :D

Good to hear from your 20s experience too.

Most of what I've done wasn't really with the goal of improving myself, but just to see if I was capable; test my own limits.... see how far I can take things.

Just to mention a few:

1. I left the city and moved to a remote area on the US/Canadian boarder to live "off the grid". I built a small cabin with no power tools. Just an axe, saws, ropes and horses. Wood stove only source of heat. Grew my own food, raised and slaughtered my own livestock. Survived 2 years before heading back to civilization.

2. Decided to go tandem jumping (skydiving) to overcome my fear of heights. When the guy strapped to me asked me if I was ready as we stood at the open doors of the plane, we didn't just "hop" out like I think you're supposed to. I launched us off of the edge of the plane with a push in my legs that sent us into about half a dozen mid-air flips before we stabilized. After we landed, he kind of chewed me out a little bit as I had a huge smile on my face.

3. Taught myself to play guitar without taking lessons. Eventually ended up briefly working with a guy by the name of "Roger" on a punk project he was working on. I ended up passing on the opportunity because he wanted me to leave Boston to live in the Bronx (NYC). I fvcking hated the Bronx. I pursued more of the business side of music from that point on. I later found out "Roger" was Roger Miret, who fronted of an old hardcore band called Agnostic Front. Merit is hailed by many as the father of the New York Hardcore scene (an East-Coast version of Henry Rollins, if you will). That project was "Roger Miret and The Disasters".

These are all interesting and extraordinary things that you did.

1 for me, I wonder how many people could do that.

That's a cool experience!

Yep. There's several of us on this forum that plays. @stringpuller, @Sho-No-Luv, @CuddleJunkie, @Atom Smasher are a few people I can think of off the top of my head. I wrote a thread earlier this year talking about tablatures of choice.

That's the cool thing about the guitar. There are literally tons of ways to improve on the guitar and beyond like recording and fx processors, learning different style genres, and techniques, etc.

You'll appreciate this one. Especially to those guys that thinking playing the guitar will get them plates. It's hilarious.

I took a flight abroad absolutely solo, then found some flat to rent and a job just on my own. I didn't know the city nor the country and used Google Maps in my android powered phone to get between places. I returned after 3 years. I consider that a waste of time when I see my peers already finishing studies but it changed me significantly. Im going to study next year.

I spent years developing a solid repertoire to find nobody actually wants to listen to it other than other guitarists.

Women have no interest. Other than thinking it's a cool thing, but once you've done the party trick it's not something they seem to want to see again.
Yeah... I think the social status/proof that becomes with gaining recognition either as a player or in a band is what attracts them. Not necessarily the music.

Also, musicians often are more into fashion and will sport unique style trends, piercings, tats, haircuts that can be attractive (think peac0cking).

Having an A+ photographer follow them around on tour taking the perfect photos with lighting, camera, flash, etc. paints them in an even better light. Posting those on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and piling up the likes and comments.

Musicians also spend more time working hard to increase their name and brand out with social media, giving free giveaways, "exclusive" VIP packages to sit and chat with them, again all giving off major social proof value (real or not) right there.

It's funny how solid and talented guitarists impress other dudes much akin to how ripped dudes in the gym impress other dudes who are working hard to achieve the same or better physique than those they look up to and respect.

It makes sense when you think about it, guys like to compete with each other as a natural instinct.

We're going to do crazy things to improve ourselves. :D We're all ambitious in someway.

i can only reach performance standards if I gave up my job. At the peak I was practising gypsy folk 4 hours a day and I still couldn;t just pick up and play without some errors live.

Plus all the stuff I play isn't written down so I have to learn it by ear or watch on YT and it takes me weeks to learn it. Damn rewarding though

I nearly mastered the vid below and it took me a year.

That's cool stuff!
