Most religious people want a soft theocracy where an atheist expressing his opinion is considered "arrogant" or "offensive". Well guess what, your religion is offensive. The only irony is your lack of self awareness. Plus, we need to talk about God if 90℅ of our neighbors are planning their lives around something which probably doesn't exist, and many of them know this deep down.
Because we've been force fed religion for thousands of years. Having a chip on our shoulder is quite reasonable. What you're seeing now is atheism with a voice for the very first time and the theocrats are crying foul because they've been so used to being the majority and getting preferential treatment. Christians in this country who want Biblical law enforced on everyone else isn't the problem, the problem is paranoid atheists for speaking out against the idea that our laws and morals should come from an invisible man in the sky...literally an insane idea... Really rich how that works
