I think this stat is largely about the sad state of the US job market, especially for young people. The last time things were similar was 1940, the end of the Great Depression and start of World War II.

I've been commenting on this....but folks on this site just say I'm just "being negative" and "whining" about the stats/data. The reality is that we are in the WORSE JOB MARKET in decades, at least the worse in the last 40 years.

Plenty of jobs out there if you are willing to endure the bull****. Human Resources is used as an Affirmative Action dumping ground for mainly spoiled white women, so these ****s are the gate keepers to jobs now. It's really hard to get a job when their "ideal candidate" is no different than the men they choose or have been waiting for since college.

In addition, a lot of people(cough cough millennials) feel extremely entitled and will only take a specific job at a specific location only. You won't see them leave their hometown or the nearest big city to their hometown at all. For example, my friend said that he's only going to apply in Nashville or the Northeast. He doesn't have any internship experience and his gpa is bad lol.

I'd recommend staying out of Macedonia. Maybe head to the great white north. (eh).
