Brothers,

These threads have been done to death but this is slightly different as I'm interested in specific cuts off of specific records. What I want to know is what songs do you turn to whenever you need a recharge or when you need a needle shot in your veins or reminder of a time when things were at thier highest point? I'm looking to broaden my musical range and I figure there are more learned brothers here that I admire so -

Here's a list I go back to time and again:

Black Sabbath - Children of the grave - Reunion
N.I.B. - Reunion
Tomorrows Dream - Reunion

Ozzy - You can't kill rock n' roll - Diary of a madman
Iron man/Children of the grave - Speak of the Devil
Children of the grave - Randy Rhodes Tribute (He fvckin' shreds it!)

Tool - Jambi - 10000 Days
The Pot
The Grudge - Lateralus
Parabol/Parabola - Lateralus
Pu**** - Salival
Die Eier Von Satan - Aenima
H -Aenima
Intolerance - Undertow

Rush - New world man - Signals
Subdivisions
Limelight - Moving Pictures
New world man - Rush in Rio Disc 1

Miles Davis - Kind of blue (every cut is jazz at it's most perfect)

Guns n' Roses - Estranged - Use your illusion II
Double talkin' jive - Use your illusion I
Coma
It's so easy - Appetite For Destruction
Rocket Queen

Boston - Don't look back - Don't look back
We're ready - Third Stage
Boston (This entire album is classic gold)

Keith Whitley - I'm over you - Greatest Hits CD

Suzy Bogguss - Aces - Aces
Outbound plane
Cold day in July - Voices in the wind
Drive south

38 Special - Fantasy girl - Wild-Eyed Southern Boys

Clint Black - Nobody's home - Killin' Time
Walkin' away

Jimmy Buffet - Come monday - Boats, beaches, bars and ballads
A pirate looks at 40
He went to Paris
Why don't we get drunk
Tin cup chalice
Frank & Lola
Havana daydreamin'
Boat drinks
Pencil thin mustache
Nautical wheelers

These are just a few which I'm constantly burning and re-burning.

Pops, none of this music is about death. Quite the opposite, they're about perseverence and renewal and progression.

Certainly you can dig up some Al Jolson cuts you still dig?

46 & 2 by Tool (to anyone that is a fan of this band other than me and KarmaSutra you will know if you think about it this whole song is about DJ-ism even if indirectly. Its about changing and becoming something new or even something larger than that ie finding out how awesome you always were to begin with but you had not found that part of you thanks to your mind being clouded over for various reasons.

The Good Left Undone by Rise Against- Very good high energy positive feeling song. If I had a DJ theme song this would be it. I liked it so much I linked it in my signature. It gets me going on days where I physically and emotionally and spiritually feel like crap so for this reason and any that I have already stated it is awesome. Really brings my confidence and energy back whenever I need a boost.

Colors by Crossfade- Relatively new band with a great powerful sound and positive message. This song is about facing your problems and overcoming them while rocking hard while doing it.

Brother, I damn near threw in 46&2! I agree that it's about metamorphosizing into something better than who you are now!

The ones I go back to are:

Whiskey in the jar
Breadfan (Hammett's best riff ever)
Hero of the day
Unforgiven

Man, Brother ValleyDJing, you're right about this sh!t pumping you up. This is what I'm talking about. I'm going on the suggestions thus far and going to fill my Zen with all of this glorious noise!

46 & 2 by Tool is one of my favorite songs, but it doesn't make me burst with energy, it makes me think.

Rage Against The Machine is what jolts me.

The "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" song is great also.

I like to listen to Death - The Sound of Perserverance. If you guys like Metallica, and Tool, and Sabbath, you will like that album by Death. It's so sick.

Slipknot - Before I Forget
Slayer - Angel of Death
Testament - Into the Pit
Drowning Pool - Bodies
Mastodon - Colony of Birchmen
Pantera - ƒucking Hostile (Drag the Waters is a very close second)
Project 86 - Me Against Me

Any of these songs is 100% guaranteed to purge James Blunt from your immediate short term memory and reconstitute the testosterone lost in hearing "you're beautiful". Also proof against "Hey Delilah" by Plain White T's.

LOL. I bet the beautiful girl who he sang the song to appreciated his compliment very much.

All you dudes like hard rock.

I like house music and techno and stuff so that doesn't help. I like rap a little though.

Jay-Z on his album Kingdom Come, the title track, is when he came back from "retirement" and the song is basically "I'm back, fvck you I'm the best, step aside fool" and that track pumps me up big time.

Other music that gives me a jolt?
Nas', Rakim's, Biggie's, Wutang's first albums.
A tribe called quest always chills me out.

AC/DC pre 1982.
Most of Iron Maiden's stuff.
Most of Black Sabbath.

That's it for now, thugs.
