I was at 'The Steel City Rumble' last night in Glen Carbon, IL, near St Louis. One of the ring girls was also a fighter who fought in the first cage match of the evening. She was pretty hot, and won, which is pretty good for a ring girl. The string-bikini hoochie table of ring girls happened to be right next to mine - which presented a unique challenge because I was there with my girlfriend. The challenge was to not get caught looking at the eight trashy teenage bimbos falling out of their meager clothing and walking around in high heels as they got increasingly drunk. Yeah, that was fun.

Here's a ltr tip to anyone reading this - if your girl catches you looking at another obviously hot chick, act like you were just noticing that girl's flaws and say something like "wow does she have bad hair" or something that sounds like what a typical catty female would be thinking. Almost every woman has self-esteem issues, and managing those issues is an important ltr skill.

Good stuff, like how the girl next to me @ the fight was laughing off the ring girls and their "strut"

There were probably eight hundred guys in that place and not one of them had the balls to hit on those girls in their bikinis and heels. They were all decent looking; one was exceptionally attractive in my book, but I liked the fighting one the best. I talked to her a little in the hallway when I was away from my gf. But I got to sit next to the hoochie table like I said, and the most that any guys would do is ask to have their picture taken with a couple of the girls. One of them said, "well that just made my year." It was sad to see.

With a day to think about it, I think the best approach would have been to rip on them for being nineteen and drinking right in front of the police security that was there, teasing them for being not such bright criminals, and ignoring that they were hot chicks in swimsuits. A guy who could have pulled that off and at least done real flirting with these girls would have been at probably a one-in-a-thousand skill level at the dj game - at least at a midwestern mma event.

Hey bible belt I have a question? What do you think about this? The gracie school that I am attending is 13 miles from my house. They don't offer sunday classes. The instructors sometimes seem like they are not paying attention to whats going on. Those are the negatives. Also they teach very week takedowns and classes are an hour long which I feel is a little short. Also they only offer one nogi bjj class a week.

There is another academy that is only 6 miles from my house. They have won the last 3 major tournaments in the Chicago area. They have a judo class that I can attend on sunday and bjj classes on sunday also. They have specific classes for wrestling and muythai although I can't attend those do to my hours at work. Also there school has faired the best in tournaments.

The positive to the gracie school is that the guys are a great group of guys they make training awesome. There are no egos there and thats what I like. In many bjj schools I hear its a lot more competitive. I like the school and my renewal is due but am kind of curious to try another school.

The problem is I feel loyalty to the gracies. I am a loyal type of guy and wouldn't want to see the guys at my school at a tournament and now I am on the other side. I train with a great group of guys and the gracies preach loyalty.

What would you do? Should I talk to my head instructor about it. What would you do?

I understand it's not easy having options; that is one thing I don't have to worry about, living in a small town. I can definitely see not wanting to compete against former training partners, and I understand the loyalty aspect.

I'd say to definitely be up-front with your current school about looking elsewhere. Make it more about them fitting your schedule than being a better school. Like breaking up with a girl - "it's not you, it's me." Try the Sunday classes for a day and see if you like them.

I saw (again) and talked to Jardine and Penn. They both were weary of their opponents but trained hard just a few days before their fights. I see MMA guys all the time, even though the f*ck up my spa and make the spa attendents work 3 times harder then they're use to, they are going to put on a show for everybody this upcoming weekend! Order that sh*t and and enjoy the best fighting you can see legally hands down!!

That is pretty cool, PR.

I am going to try to catch the fights on Sat night. If I were making predictions, the one guess I have is that Tito Ortiz will lose. It's the last fight on his UFC contract, he hates Dana White, and he just wants out.

I wish the UFC would provide a way to see the fights that are not broadcast - there are several. I've heard ticket prices to see it live are steep, $200-$300.

Hey if you miss it, it'll be on surfthechannel. I agree with the price shebang, UFC 's coming to London soon, but the tickets are into the £200's, even cage rage is £150+ it's ridiculous.

Finally got round to watching UFC 83, Bisping is looking good! GSP is awesome, the #1 contender for 185 is WIDE open.

My predictions are Penn over sherk.
Jardine over silva. Both guys like to bang and jardine is the bigger man.
Ortiz will beat machida. I think he has the style to beat him.

With regards to Penn/Shirk, I can see it being Penn by decision, and it being a pretty boring fight.

I've got a feeling Tito will do it.

Overall I was pretty disappointed with the fights. Silva won by early knockout which was spectacular but I would have liked to see more action.

Ortiz machida fight had a few moments but was also not as entertaining as I thought it would be.

Penn put on a boxing exhibition and showed why he is one of the best if not the best pound for pound fighters in the world. He put on the best boxing exhibition I have ever seen in the octagon.

All around I feel the fight card did not live up to the hype.

What an excellent fight card. I would have liked to see Tito pull off the triangle but I was elated to see Wanderlei come back in dominating fashion, how can you not appreciate that. One of the most brutal KO's in recent history. Penn's superior boxing was also enjoyable to watch, as he waited for just the right moment to drop some huge strikes after picking muscle shark apart with jabs.

Could not have been happier unless Tito pulled the upset, but the best fight of the night was Wanderlei smashing through Jardine in 36 seconds. He's back.

I was impressed by the fights. I saw them at Joe's in downtown Chicago at lookyoung's recommendation. I think a guy who sat next to me was a student of seduction material. He looked like Style with his shaven head. He established social proof by talking to my gf and I. Then he opened two girls at the table next to him. He got them sitting with him within a few minutes. Then the three of them left together. He went through those motions like he was working a checklist in his head. Well done, man, whoever you are.

I liked the fights. Jardine got destroyed; I was happy to see him wake up. Tito showed more heart than I expected; Machida is just fvcking good. I was impressed with Penn after getting his ass kicked against GSP. Sherk held his hands up much better than BJ, but Sherk's face was messed up and bj did not have a mark on him.

wasn't impressed with Machida and hated when Joe kept telling how elusive his fighting style is. Sure, he had a winning tactic but it was far from entertaining. Overall I think it was a let down, and I don't have high expectations for UFC85 either.

A couple of observations from the mma fights I seen this weekend.

Kimbo is overrated. He is terrible and is more of a circus act than a true mma fighter. He gives a bad name to the sport and the stoppage was horrible. What really made him look bad is that he was out of shape for the fight yet he makes more than UFC champions. Any guy in the UFC would beat kimbo.

Miguel torres the 135 pound champ for the wec is a straight bad asss. I actually seen him at the naga tournament in Chicago last week. The guy looks like a little pu$$$y. He gives meaning to the phrase never judge a book by its cover.

Uriah faber and jens pulver was a great fight. Uriah faber is probably the most explosive athlete in all of mma. I have never seen a white guy as explosive as him. He is too mma what Roy jones was to boxing as far as athleticsm goes.

I saw some live cage fights in Metropolis, IL, at Harrah's Casino on Saturday night. Matt Hamill was there, but not fighting. The casino had a nice venue, only 400 or so people there made it easy to see, but I think most of the guys I train with are better fighters than what I saw.

I taped the elitexc fights and watched them tonight. I agree Kimbo is overrated, but he sells tickets. The chick fight was pretty good, and I think Robbie Lawler's fight was fun to watch as well.

Eh, I'm getting kind of tired of people saying white guys can't be "explosive" or jump high, etc. Weightlifters have very high verticals and are the most explosive athletes of all, and almost all of them are white.

Listen I am white and don't want to turn this thread into a race thread.

Most of the best athletes in the US are black. Remember kerpal they are only 11% of the population yet are the majority in most sports. Even in mma 2 of the 4 champs happen to be black. I don't have to go into boxing, football, and basketball. Even baseball has a high proportion of blacks. Bodybuilders have a high proportion of blacks.

Do you think if whites were 11% of the USA population they would rule sports like african americans rule sports?????? Think about it kerpal your logic is off.

I could just as easily say that black people aren't as smart as white people since there are more white scientists. But that's obviously not true. I think it's more of a cultural thing. I think more black people just choose to go into sports than white people do, and more white people go into sciences than black people, etc. Both have the potential to do either, however.

blacks dominate sports unproportionately because white slave owners bred them like animals to get the biggest strongest fastest slaves. not the entire reason but there is historical basis for that.
