If such a thing exists, that is.

Some of you know that I wish to become an orthopedic surgeon. But something that’s bothering me is just how strenuous it will be to get there, and even once I do actually get there. 8 years of schooling and hundreds of thousands of dollars. I learn pointless things right now that have nothing to do with surgery. 5 years of residency afterwards which means working ~80 hours/week only to get paid ~$40,000 which is jack ****. Then 60-70 hour work weeks after that. The way I look at it, what time do I have to exercise for my own wellbeing? What time do I have to have ‘fun’ with another woman? What time do I have to sleep? My mental health has strongly deteriorated due to years of lack of sleep and studying is just getting increasingly harder. I never wanted to take drugs to help focus and/or calm my nerves but now it’s definitely a viable option I’m looking at. I do NOT want to be a drone who’s life is just work and sleep with nothing else. That’s not living. I already feel like I am never awake anymore either.

Help me out guys. I need financial advice. What’s something that I can do that is reliable and has a decent income? I don’t know what to do anymore because the system is just ****ed up beyond belief. They make it so hard to make a lot of money but I keep hearing from my parents how it isn’t all that hard at all. But one of them never went to college and the other hasn’t been there either for several decades.

I think it's very specific to your market. Trades guys what you guys would call contractors r kings in Australia. They make a lot of cash money under the table. I don't know any halfway decent tradie who doesn't have a house a car a boat and a holiday home. I'm a professional earning six figures and I can't afford that.

Unfortunately for the easy corporate jobs you're over qualified you have a penis. The laziest people I have seen are all women in HR or change management.

Personally I would say hang in there buddy. A medical degree is a great thing to have behind you. I'm assuming the setup is the same as over here in that you do a general medical degree basically studying to be a doctor and then specialise. General practitioners over here have it good in that they seem to be able to work a couple of days a week in a couple of different clinics. And basically the clinic gets a cut of their earnings to effectively their self employed. My girlfriend worked for an Indian guy who had his own clinic and he treated the nurses and other staff like s*** but respected the doctors. You seem to get a certain level of respect just for being in the same Club.

An ex of mine was an assistant to an ortho doc. You don't go into ortho for the money. If you are in medicine for the money, be a plastic surgeon. They set their own hours, and don't have to be on call at night. If you don't get an MD, PA school and Physical Therapy school are Master's programs that will get you a six-figure job right out of school. Phys therapy assistant is a bachelor's, and start at like $50-60k, and getting a job is easy. There's not many 4-year degrees left like that which will give you a decent job right away.

Yeah I hear about the respect part but that’s only in certain places. It’s more like brown-nosing till the very end when you retire.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll look into all of that.

I’ve heard of enough ‘suck it up’ bull**** already. Now it’s time for some actual concrete tips. If you don’t have good advice to give then just shut the **** up and get out of the thread.

Money is a social construct. Materialism is a downfall. Get an job that supports your basic needs, and allows you the free time to pursue your actual passions.

I think it's admirable that you've been wanting to get into a medical field. I'm sure it's a lot of hard work along the way, but it won't last forever and the rewards will be great. As far as wanting an easy job, as you study the field I would think you would learn what kind of positions are easier than others. Personally, I would not like to be a doctor because I wouldn't want the responsibility. You literally hold someone else's life in your hands. Ever think about pharmacy?

A broker of some sort perhaps? These guys can earn a tonne and sometimes don't put much work in. You may have to flush your morals down the toilet though. You mentioned you are a sociopath so that may not be an issue.

When I worked as a stock broker there were a few guys who had dropped out of medical school to get into the industry. Being a trader was where the real Money was. And you don't even need to be a good trader to make cash, just a good salesman.

I had to leave because it was so crooked.

That's like asking: "What are some non-electric cars that I can drive 100 - 200 miles at a time, that require virtually no gas?"

It doesn't. You want a high paying job (which I assume starts at 6 figures and higher) you are going to have to BUST your a.ss both in terms of work ethic, but also (most likely) in terms of networking, education/certification acquisition, continued professional learning/development, etc. Also expect to have to deal with high levels of stress which (if you don't control it) might cause you to gain weight, deal with depression, etc. Also expect to have your social/family life cut in some form or another.

I’m looking at all possibilities. When I take organic chem I’ll look into it more if I think it’s not too difficult. Everyone says it’s the hardest thing ever, but I had a friend who thought it was easier than regular chem (even though everyone said that class was hard), and I should have gotten an A (but did not realize there were online assignments nor did I think he would curve the class so I got a B instead). This is what is pisses me off the most. I just took an exam yesterday for bio and got a 67.5 on it. I thought the exam was Wednesday but it was yesterday instead. Here’s the thing though: I still know and understand the course material really well. He just tested us on the small insignificant parts of the class that are not important to your actual understanding of biology. I understand what’s going on better than 90% of the people in their but I did worse than most of them. Such a piss off. But I know what will be on the exams from now on though. Hopefully he curves the class at the end because the average was still just one point above what I got and I know that they have to make the class average a C even if it means lowering the grades of some people who didn’t deserve their grades to get lowered.

One of the things I realized is that other people not relating to that person can find out about what you did and that can have a negative impact. You only wrong those who wrong you, or will wrong you. And when questioned, you can justify what you did. I still have morals. I only forgo them when I know that there won’t be any social repercussions or when I am screwed over by someone. You can probably tell that the innocent and caring little child version of me is still somewhere inside lol. I gotta get rid of it. But if everyone is screwing each other over it might be my kind of game. The only thing I’m hesitant with is the law. I know how to get ahead of everyone else. But how do I cover up my tracks? That second part will be annoying and expensive. Plus, if I piss off one of the bigger millionaires, I could potentially put my life in danger (the glories of being able to get ahead).

Okay but what is the best balance with getting paid with how much free time you have?

Put it like this.......if you are looking to make 6 figures or more per year, expect to be working at least 50 - 60 hours per week under MOST circumstances. Now, you might run across a few cases where you can get away with 30 - 40 hours per week, but they aren't the norm. I know you will see countless books, motivational speakers, and others talk about how they work less than 20 hours a week producing ALL of this money, but that's not the case for 95% of the other times.

It all depends what you are good at and what you want to do.I made 8000 dollars a month as a vacuum cleaner salesman once (700 per sale) I worked my own hours and was basically my own boss.I only worked from about 4pm thru 8pm because that's when most people are home and not at work.

You can only make money at doing
1) Something you love
2) Something you are good even exceptional at it
3) Be your own boss

Also, if you wanna increase your chances aka "have easier time"... you have to Look at the Job market évolution and the trends of the futur.

What are the job of the futur, 5 years from now, what will be in DEMAND, where are the mâture market etc.. etc..

Going in médical school is probably the last safe bet overall (always demand)

Personnally: Air Contrôler, Plumber, Trade School work, Artificial intelligence désigner, sexologist etc... might have great potential

Manual labor is in demand due to lack of autonomy among the young and aging demographic

Technology (AI, Aviation), Psychology (brain and sech), Medical
Likely will increase market value

Maybe you could be a Nuclear Medical Doctor :p...

Anyway check employement charts

Damn!!! That's crazy! In Norway it's illegal to work more than 40 hours a week except in a few cases, even then we're taking below 50 hours.

Can't help you though, don't know enough about the conditions over there.

Become an I.T. Manager in America. Dead serious you can manage an I.T. Department with 30+ people and make 100k, 120k+ and not have the slightest clue of even the bare bones basics about how technology functions, it's strengths, it's weaknesses, etc. Just do make sure that you don't have any clue what so ever about technology, because if you do, you will never get to become a manager and make this kind of money. You will stay in a technical position and be the b|tch of the person who didn't have the skills and got the promotion. The the percentage of men in I.T. is significantly higher than that of women, yet, most of the women in the field are the boss. They like to put one clueless woman in charge of a department full of men and work the men until they are a mental pile of slime.

Does this sound like a joke? Yeah, it SOUNDS like one don't it... But I have seen this reality in time, time, time, and time again in I.T. It's disgusting.

Interviewer: So, I see you don't have a solid science background.

Interviewee: Yeah, I kind of gave up after junior high school algebra.

Interviewer: I see. Computers? Technology?

Interviewee: I can't even log into Facebook.

Interviewer: I see. so what kind of position are you looking for?

Interviewee: Well, with my background I was hoping to get into management.

Interviewer: Oh, well, that makes perfect sense! Are you at all logical?

Interviewee: I'm always right because I'm a woman, that's logical, right?

Interviewer: You're hired!
