One of my friends overheard me saying I'm struggling financially and said I'd be ideal for work as a male escort. She knows someone who works for an escort agency and put me in touch. I always thought the idea seemed seedy for some reason, but I decided to get in touch with her contact and it sounds really good. I was told it just involves accompanying women to various functions and parties and that's pretty much it.

So it means free nights out, mostly among wealthy people and the flatrate is more than I could possibly earn in a regular day job.

I haven't applied and not even sure I'd stand a chance, but I'm considering it. Has anyone had experience as a male escort or know anything about it?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Nice. If you wouldn't have to escort any dudes, then it seems like an ideal job for improving your DJ skills.

Hmmm, I usually thought those escort businesses were a front for prostitution. Ya know, make a deal "under the table" sort of gig.

But hey, if you get paid for doing nothing more than being some old rich hag's arm candy, go for it!

It is not such a glamorous job as you may think. If you think that being a male escort is akin to American Gigolo then you are in for a rude awakening.

First, most if not all of the females you escort are old and dried up at that. Wealthy perhaps, but not very attractive.

Also, be careful if you decide to enter the business. Like another poster suggested most escort services cater to old wealthy homosexual men. So be upfront and make it clear that you are straight.

I tell you from experience. Back during my younger years, I was a bartender in NYC at various clubs and if you were good looking you would get approached by both men and women who would offer money, trips, gifts, etc. if you would go out with them. It so happens, that I ended up being approached mostly by men although I did go out with a few women, who quite frankly I would not have had sex with but for the fact I was high on drugs and booze (were talking about the early to mid 80's and the hey day of Studio 54 and other big and famous clubs in NYC).

Sure, I got money, free trips to the carribean access to the best clubs/restaurants free of charge, etc. But at the end of the day, it did not make me better off financially and I wrote it off as nothing more than a youthful indiscretion and adventure.
