There’s a friend of mine in my social circle who has been married to another friend of mine for 15 years.
He’s a simple guy, but he also has a short temper and tends to get angry easily.
What’s interesting is that after I started sharing more about my own self-improvement journey, lifting weights, training for marathons, and consistently running around 10 miles a week, I noticed a dramatic shift in his wife attitude toward him.
It seemed like she wanted him to change too. Like me.
Almost as if she wanted him to make the same kind of personal “upgrade” I did.
I could sense a feeling of FOMO. It was as though she noticed other men around her becoming more disciplined, ambitious, and physically active, while her own husband remained the same.
But he hasn’t changed. He doesn’t work out, and she has become increasingly frustrated.
At the same time, she doesn’t leave him. Instead, she keeps trying to motivate him.
She even paid for his full gym membership, hoping he would start exercising, but after two weeks he quit.
Could you see the contradiciton?
She is unhappy with who He is, yet she still believes that eventually he’ll transform into the person she wants him to become.
What’s also interesting is that She resent men who are highly focused, confident, and goal-oriented, like me, because she sees those qualities as something her husband doesn’t have.
It’s a strange dynamic: sometimes people don’t just want their partners to improve;
They also struggle with the comparison between who their partner is and who they wish they were.
Also, women have that FOMO that if the HB of her best female friend have a sort of good looking car, they should have it too..
