"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I was chatting with a female acquintance(friend of my gf) the other day. Nice girl, ex-gymnast 5'5, sarcastic, intelligent, about a 7.5 or an 8. Personality maybe a bit intimidating for some. Anyway, she asked me something that I couldn't really answer, but also made me curious. Some guy approached her in the bar la couple Saturdays ago and they ended exchanging numbers at the end of the night.

He called her on the Monday to make a date with her for the Friday. SHe said he was excited and she was the one to end the conversation. Then on the Friday she called to see if the date was still on and got no pickup. After that she called another day got his machine and left no message. And she never heard from him again. Apparently he was from Toronto, but also works sometimes in Montreal (about 5 hours away) where he was supposed to be the week of the date. She lives about 30 minutes outside of Montreal. I thought it was kind of funny, but she was really bummed out about it. She asked me why he would even bother calling her if he was going to flake on the date. I have no idea. It's never happened to me. Guess I wouldn't have called her in the first place if my interest level wasn't high enough. Made me curious. Any here ever do that?

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

That was an excellent story. Hell, I wish that guy was my best friend. Girls should experience more of their own mindgames... and then maybe they can understand how men do not like their BS.

Apparently he was from Toronto
Toronto is a ****ed up city when it comes to dating and women. The guy is probably so used to how women are ****ed up here, that he forgot that women could be different from other cities.

I'm not saying women from Montreal don't play mind games, but Toronto women are notorious for it.

Same here, if a girl is playing hard to get or isn't making it easy for me to date her - my interest drops really fast. Nowadays - I give 1-2 tries then I completely next them (in my mind) - I cut through the crap really fast, something some guys should learn.

Maybe the guy just wasn't that interested or maybe her overenthusiaum was a turn off. I don't think I've ever set an actual date and then not shown up but I have told some one that I'd call them later and completely dissed them. Also I've had several experiences where the girl is just too amped about going out and things like that and my IL dropped like the stock market on black tuesday. I stop calling, I don't return calls, and I don't pick up the term. When a girl is just TOO pumped about going out and doesn't maintain a certain level of coolness to their ambieance, then for some reason I head for the hills or I just flake entirely. Maybe it's because I'm really about the chase and if I feel I've won her over too easily or could win her over with little effort, the sport in going out with her is gone so I don't feel very motivated. I'm sure there's a bunch of psychology behind what ever reasoning I may have but the end result is that I don't do it for what ever reason.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
