"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Why being prepared at every moment is absolutely critical to our development:

I was meeting a couple of my friends, whom I hadn't had the chance of introducing to each other until then, at Don Pablos for nachos and beer. The waitress had, I can only describe it as, a twinkle in her eye. I've evolved so much that I knew it was on. I'm 5'5" and this girl was shorter than I was. So I busted on her about that and kept escalating the entire evening. I'm bald and quite often have women walk up and start rubbing my head, She was no exception. She finally can't take it and asks if she can sit with me and my friends since her shift is over. I told her she could but it was going to cost her. I explained that she would have to use her employee discount and that I " (pointing to my cheek) need some sugar." She kisses me on the cheek and says she'll see what she can do with the bill.

My buddies are absolutely awestruck. Before my divorce I was THEE afc/wussbag. Anyway, She comes back to the table with a wonderful pinot noir telling stories about customers who've come into the place blah, blah ,blah . . .

Place is closing. My pals and I are coming back to my place for xbox live and to watch Lost on the ol' DVR, So I know it's crunch time. I ask for her hand and give her my "discount palm reading bit" I look at her hand then back into her eyes looking more and more disappointed with each glance. After a minute or so, I throw her hand away and tell her "I can't. I . . . I just can't tell you what I see." And toss her hand away. ( By now she's absolutely frantic with anticipation!) She's begging me to tell her. So after another kiss on the cheek and one on the lips, I submit and ask for her hand back. I'm looking and squeezing and, taking a deep breathe, look at her with my sad puppy eyes, tell her" This line here (Ijust picked one) This line tells me you'll be working the 24 hour drive thru at McDonalds.(beat) I'm sorry, but I just can't see myself with someone with that kind of future!" She totally loved it.

Told her we were leaving and she had been fun. She writes her number on the back of my reciept and forces me to promise to be home one evening this week so she and I can get together. I relent and say call me and I'll try to work you in. She calls 2230 last nite and comes over. The rest is another post.

My point guys is to always be prepared. Anytime. Anyplace.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Yeah I wasn't prepared once. I went to the bar right after work once and ended up going home with a random sl*t. It was landry day and I had on whitey tighties.
