And what were your thoughts in regards to the messages it conveys (or doesn't)about attraction, love, and romance?

My off-the-cuff thoughts:

-Some of the banter between leads Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney is OK, even if the two of them don't exude much spark as a couple

-The by-now-entirely-too-familiar double standard on women physically striking men shows up twice in ABY, and is played for laughs. I suppose we should all be grateful that Bea/Sweeney's actions here are just obnoxious, rather than malicious

-Glenn Powell here is the closest thing US cinema has come to creating a homegrown Hugh Grant
 

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
