"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Me and a friend go to a community center where a lot of college students hang out. It's not a social club ie no alcohol, etc. it is just a place where people are supposed to be able to make friends and to help people new to town. A lot of women come in there, too. My friend isn't exactly in an LTR but he's getting there so he doesn't approach the women. Me, I'm single and available so when a woman is intersted in me, I'll talk to her. And I do okay, too. There are times I can have several women at a table with me and we're laughing and joking. Or we go to the game room to play billiards. And if a woman says she doesn't know how to play that's a great way to get in some light kino because you can take her hand showig her how to play the game.

But there are some old people who come in their with their middle aged disabled son. They try to get any woman who comes in there to talk to him. They will try to bribe the women by saying they can give them rides around town or hand out fliers to something that the old woman is involved in. The guy himself doesn't do much. He can't speak well or loudly. I don't know if this is part of his disability or lack of self esteem. He won't get involved in any activities there even when invited by the guys. He just stands around waiting for women to approach him. Occassionally he'll try to say something to a woman and she'll politely talk for a few seconds then walk away.Or the guy's parents (especially mother) will come over and try to get the woman to sit down and talk with him.

There was a woman who used to come in and talk to me and my friend. She's okay and I've got her contact info. But one day the old woman somehow got managed to arrange a meeting between that woman and her son. I happened to be walking past a coffee shop on campus one day and the woman came running up to me and started talking. She was smiling and leaning into me so we sat down to talk. Then the disabled guy came huffing out of the building and walked past us angrily. She told me that she had met him to talk about a book that he was reading. Note that this guy isn't a student, okay?

Anyway, she and I are doign okay just talking. She's attractive enough but I'm not really into her that much. And she's very focused on her classes which doesn't leave her much time for anything else. Anyway, after that I noticed the guy's parents glaring at me when I went to the center. And one day a while later the woman came in and we went to the game room. We were playing pool and she started brushing up against me. There was no one else in there. It was subtle touching and we both used it. Then the guy came in and wanted her to leave with him. She refused. He tried again but she refused so he left. The next week he tried again. She asked what he wanted and he said he had to tell her something. She said he could tell her there. He mumbled something about his plans for that evening and if she wanted to come. We looked at each other. She told him she was going home to study after she left the center. He huffed out. I saw his parents glaring at us. The thing is we're adults and the woman can make her own decisions. Since she never liked the guy and only talked to him because someone gave her contact info to that guy's mother that should tell them something.

She doesn't get there much because of class but she's also avoiding them. But I've noticed that everytime women come in and I happen to be talking to them the old woman will come over to interrupt. She doesn't do that to my friend or anyone else at the center just me. And I catch them glaring their eyes. And it's gotten worse lately especially since I've been gettng into better shape.

And she's been telling women not to talk to me. There's word that I'm a player and that no decent woman would want to be around me.

And it's only at that place it happens. Meeting women on campus is okay but I've noticed that at the center some women who were happy around me the week before are suddenly nervous the next time.

The thing is some women are dumb and will believe junk based on what those clowns have to say. (And I'm reading the DJ Bible so I am gradually changing my behavior to suit what I should be doing but DJs are gentlemen-at least I am). Other times people will leave and not back in part because of the too forward way they act (for some it's like "who wants the drama?"). And this is not a dating club, it's a place for young people to hang out and get to know each other. I'm not leaving because I like it there, me and my buddy have made friends there. And it's a way to contribute and help new students out. But I don't like the way those people are. I don't need a bad rep because some people are resentful because their son has problems and are looking for someone to scapegoat.

Why are some people like this? And I take the high road because I'm not a punk. But what do you do about people like that? I try to ignore them in part because confronting them could backfire and I'd come across looking like a villian. And again, just in case someone says " go find another place to hang out" then answer is NO. I like it there, I've got some friends there and I won't leave. Men don't bail or turn tail and run away just because there are people in a place that don't like him.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Sounds like you're gonna end up banging all the women there real soon.

Yeah, would that were true. But seriously, if people want to be friends what is wrong with that? And I'm not rude, I'm just being myself. It's fun to make women laugh, or talk about stuff. I don't like how those people are, though. Scapegoating me for their son's inadequacies isn't going to help him. And I sure as heck don't need it.

Charm the old woman and her son to stop their C-blocking.

Kill the old woman in front of her son, then kill the son. Throw the bodies in a marsh.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
