I'm just looking for a little bit of help here. I've known this girl for around 2 years, all the way back to when I was about the worse AFC you could find. When I first met her I screwed everything up by not making any moves and thinking that the best way to start a real relationship with a girl was to become their best friend and then go from there… yea. Quite frankly while I may have a little case of oneitis she is one of the most stunning women I have ever seen which is of course where the problem lies.
As I started to realize being her friend wasn't getting me anywhere I stumbled upon sosuave and the ways of a DJ. As I picked up more and more DJ skills (and more importantly the philosophy of becoming a DJ) she started wanting to hang out with me more and more until the point where if she doesn't talk to me for a day she'll start to get worried. Of course I was firmly planted in LJBF land from my AFC days.
So today she invited me over to her house to watch some movies. Little did I know but her boyfriend was also there. My first impulse when I saw this was to about face and walk right out of there but instead I decided to chill for a while thinking that maybe we could watch a movie as 3 equals.. silly naive me.
No more then 5 minutes into the move they started making out (hell I saw omens before we even sat down.. call me a optimist for staying this long). I am genuinely interested in the movie so decide to stick around for a few more minutes but I get sidetracked thinking about my relationship with the girl, this soon turns into the final straw that breaks the metaphorical camels back.
Here’s how I put things into perspective:
Here I am, having known this girl for 2 years, we never really had a serious fight and can practically read each others’ minds, that's how close we are.
Here is this guy, the latest in her line of boyfriends, she’s known him for around 2 weeks, and they met twice.
Now we look at who is with the girl making out on the couch and who is sitting alone in a chair and we realize that I will never ever get anything more sexual then polite hugs out of this girl. At the same time we realize that I no longer need this girl in my life like I once did. I have mastered the skills and learned to walk the walk and can fly solo.
This was the moment where a great beam of light came down from the sky and illuminated the self inflicted prison of LJBF all around me via the power of self realization. Now I must figure out what to do about it.
The way I see it here are my options:
A) take girl out of my life- will be tricky and hard
B) Continue as is- unrecommended
C) Redefine our relationship into something I can deal with- a good idea maybe?
Right now I’m leaning towards letter C, I have already started down the path by stopping doing things I shouldn’t be doing for her and keeping her away from the pedestal she so often tries to place herself on. (a while ago I would have happily went to the mall with her to watch her try on clothes, while ending up paying around 50 dollars for stuff she wants… yea right.. not anymore).
So please, lend me your ears and your opinions! Tell me what you would do in a situation like this and maybe give me some pointers (how to end a LJBF with minimal damage to both parties?)
