i'm starting a lifestyle consulting business and wanted the website to be a tool for my clients to find information and to use as a way to present myself. basically to look more professional as well as providing the information clients will need to know more indepth than my brochure.

figure out your "key words" like:
lifestyle consultant
lifestyle coach
life coach
life consultant
etc.
Google those terms, and have a look around at other people's websites, and simply copy the ones you like. Not word for word, but their layout, what kind of content they have, and change it around so it matches your specific business, personality. If you can, make a youtube vid of yourself describing your business and your uniqueness, and embed that vid on your home page. Much more effective than a bunch of text if you do it right. This too you can copy from others. Just search the above terms on youtube and see what videos have lots of views, that you like.

thanks a lot for the information. I will definately try the youtube video out probably within the end of this week. Once i get enough content to show to my client's which should be roughly within the week i'll post it on here and see what you guys think.

i'm actually working through templates so i don't need to worry about html. For the marketing point, our business plan only allows us to handle 12-15 clients per person per year. I'm afraid to do heavy marketing since, if i do get more than the amount of clients i can handle i would have to turn them away. Mainly i've been advertising by word of mouth and through referrals of the clients i have had in the past. I about to start with my 3rd client soon.
