"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Here is the email conversation:

Her: Hi

Me: Where do you get off with the ego thinking that we were snickering about you and email the other day while you were in here working?

What happen to the girl that can handle anything?

I like girls that are confident and not insecure.

Her: Ego? That has nothing to do with an ego! I’m sorry you think that, I felt uncomfortable, and I said something to K about it and she said you guys do that to her all the time….. and btw -what you do or don’t like about girls doesn’t concern me Alan. I’ve been so busy and so stressed out that handling anything other than what’s necessary just isn’t happening at the moment. You know, I really don’t appreciate you getting this way with me either, it’s pretty rude, I’m not rude to you.

Me: “what you do or don’t like about girls doesn’t concern me Alan”

Are you sure about that?

Her: Get off it Alan… who’s got the ego now?
What is your flippin deal? I don’t want to stress over why you’re being an ass so will you just quit already?

Me: You’re getting better at least you are not using that other F word.

Her: Look, don’t talk to me, you aren’t being nice anymore….

Was I really mean to this girl. She seem to think so. She now has another coworker on this story too.

By the way, we did go on two dates 5 weeks ago but then she burned me and went out with a jerk. She has been talking me ever since. She always knows how to say the right things but never delivers. For example, she says things like I am really good in bed or think of me naked. Without going into details I have a strong belief that she is an AW and I have been trying to move on but the fact that we work for the same company has made my life difficult.

I personally don't want to be just friend after I have kissed a girl.

Any thoughts...

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Has anyone who read this message think I was a jerk to that girl?

when children get "burned" on something hot they learn to stay away from the hot thing that burned them.

Stop talking to her or about her all together would be my suggestion.

What? I'm having a hard time understanding this statement.

Anyway, first thing to take as a lesson here is to never assume and confront someone with your assumption unless you're 100% sure it is true and am willing to piss the other person off. If you do what you did, which is to confront someone and then get all sensitive about pissing the other person off, then all you're doing is trying to make yourself look smart and big to the other person in order to try and gain whatever sort of attention you seem to want from them. But when you did not get it, you cower back into your hole and would like to make things better now.

Seriously dude, you got to understand the consequences of what you say and how you say things. The girl clearly had you by the balls in that conversation.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

What I meant by that statement is that she had been telling me how she was attracted to me and could really fall for a guy like me and two days later she dumps for a guy she was "casual" with that she had met at bar. It felt as if she had used me as a decoy to force the guy she met at a bar to be in a relationship with her.
She then went on to give me the infamous "lets just be friend line" so I have always tried to make it clear to her that I had no interest in joining her AFC club.

In any case, its been hard to ignore her as we work for the same company. My goal with her was to return things to before we had gone on dates.
