Why do you think everyone kept stealing him?
This video came up on my feed. It’s from a YouTube dating show where people swipe left and right, similar to Tinder. After they match, they go on a short date, and other contestants can “steal” them if they’re interested. You don’t need a Facebook account to watch the video.
Anyway, two things stood out to me.
The first is his appearance. One common misconception is that appearance does not matter, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Appearance does matter, since it’s the first thing people notice about you. I understand that people have their own limitations, but it’s also something everyone has some control over. The guy looks older than most of the women (look at his crow’s feet), but he looks cool and mature. He grooms and dresses well, is tanned and not overweight, and has open body language.
The second thing is his personality. I’m not sure how many “right swipes” he got in the initial stage, but once people saw his personality, women clearly wanted to talk to him. I tend to be skeptical, and yes, these could be actors or actresses, but what I can say is that he comes across as charismatic, safe, non-judgmental, vulnerable, genuine, non-argumentative, witty, and, most importantly, a pleasure to be around. The reality is that you have to offer enjoyment to be wanted. People who offer romance and adventure are hard to resist, and the fantasy of those things makes others want to follow them.
Just by saying, “I’m definitely a commitment guy. I’m not afraid of commitment, but commitment is scary,” he shares the values of many women there, and tells them what they want to hear or “sweetens their ear” how we say in my country, which helps break down barriers. Again, he has game.
Anyway, I wanted to share a different perspective, one that focuses on positive outcomes instead of gloom and doom.
