"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

You know how women often complain about having to constantly keep an eye on "lively" or "hyperactive" kids? They scold them, chase them around, say how exhausting it is, and yet, once the kid walks away after being told off, they turn around and say things like, “He’s a pain, but at least he’s lively and full of energy,” or “Better to have a lively kid than a quiet one.”

Ever thought about projecting that same logic onto adult men?

It makes sense. The man who’s always active, bold, taking risks, and especially, the one who doesn’t listen when she nags, but instead teases her like a mischievous child, is often the one she sticks with. He’s the classic “jerk” she keeps chasing, the one she stays in a relationship with for 20 years without ever getting bored.

Remember when you were a kid, and that one aunt would try to hug and kiss you, and you’d do everything to escape? And she’d laugh and say, “What a little rascal you are, come here anyway!” Some kids would give in and go to her, others would just run off and not care.

It seems women never truly let go of their maternal role.
They seem to crave the constant problems to solve, people to fix.
Finding a scatterbrained man to scold, support, and advise, but who doesn’t really listen, seems to be the ultimate thrill for them.

YMMV

I DID, then I realized I had the power to say: "Honey, I really have no desire to listen to that crap, and frankly, no one else but quite possibly your shrink does either. If you don't have yourself a solid shrink yet, write about it in a journal"
