"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

Hey guys. So I've been in a LTR for almost a year now, and things had been going great all that time. So much so that I started to slip into being a wuss again. Big mistake. She's a smart and cool chick, but she's a chick, if you know what I mean. She's also young, with an admittedly short attention span.

Well, now she's been much more distant. Not as excited about spending time together. Even hung out with another guy once, though she was at least completely open about it. We told each other we can hang with whoever we want. When we're together she's all cuddly and sexual and all that crap, but there's some kind of change that I can't put my finger on. It's probably a mistake even trying to identify it. It may just be paranoia, but my instinct tells me otherwise.

My initial reaction, now that I realize what's going on, is to be the man again. The man that she fell for. Or rather, the man I made her fall for. I loved being that guy. Confident, fun, unapologetic, never asking permission. My plan is to push her away a bit, give her some chase again, make her uncertain, sweep her off her feet when she's desperate for it. Make it exciting for both of us, really. I'm going to start hanging with a bunch of other people instead of her for awhile, male and female. Spinning friendly plates, so to speak.

But this is where I'm different from most other people. I'm embarrassed as hell to admit this, but it's something I have to do in order to grow and make progress. I don't want to be one of those guys who keeps repeating the same mistakes.

I have health problems that eat away a huge part of my time and energy. I can only manage a part time job in which I never meet anyone new. I don't even have anyone to hang out with on a regular basis anymore, besides the girlfriend. So I've created a really dumb situation for myself. I'm just asking for oneitis, and I know it. I feel myself being desperate for her, and it disgusts me. She's cool, and I'd like to continue seeing her, but only if I can have a healthy attitude about it, and only if I can have other things going on in my life.

I'm working my ass off trying to get healthy, but that might take awhile. I know I need some friends and some other female energy to work with, but I don't even know where to start. To make matters worse I am somewhat socially awkward, and mostly into things that few other people are really into. Too smart for my own good kind of thing, and a little arrogant. I am fairly confident though, so that's a plus. I need an attitude adjustment, and some new knowledge.

Help me get some new ideas, guys. I really appreciate it.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
