Unbelievable, today it happened to me something I considered to be possible only in movies

A woman told me that Im kinda looking good with long hair and a beard.

None of my friends received an unsolicited compliment like that after puberty, let alone from someone whos not a family member.

In 4 decades, it's the first time except two previous times but from girlfriends in my late 20s.

Should I buy a lottery ticket or something to celebrate this unbelievablly rare event for a normal man?

I'm clearly ironic

I agree. I got a very overt compliment from a young woman a little while ago but frankly it meant nothing to me as she was a big, fat unit. In fact, I felt a little crestfallen that she thought she could flirt with me, even as old as I am.

Compliments are usually indirect and/or withheld so they don’t get misinterpreted.

Once a long time ago while in a Taco Bell drive through, one female worker grabbed another and pulled her to the window to show/tell her how cute I was in Spanish. Little did they know I understood what they were saying. Never forgotten that moment decades later since I was shocked to hear such a compliment.

Another funny interaction in the lunch line at work where a new cashier straight out said I had pretty eyes. I was pleasantly shocked and a female coworker asked what she had said. My coworker so matter a fact agreed but never once had she said anything.

I find it a disservice to guys when the women around you will compliment perfect strangers but never give you any sort of compliment so that you don’t get the wrong idea. I find it a harsh reality that they are so rare that you vividly remember every single comment.
