To chase or not to chase

I’m sure this question has already been addressed in the past but I would like to have the opinion of the experienced DJs here.

I have read several times on this forum that chasing girls is basically a waste of time (I think it is even one of the main principles of the DJ bible).
To me not chasing means waiting for a girl to give you strong IoI before making a move or even waiting for her to approach you (which we all know rarely happens, even if you are a good-looking guy).

However, a lot of you are in favor of cold approach and talking to girls in our day to day life whenever we meet a cute girl who sparks our interest.To me this is chasing.

Let’s say I cross the path of a cute girl on my way to work tomorrow morning. We make eye contact. Should I go talk to her ?

Talking to a chick is not chasing. Its pursuing, which is what women want you to do.......and you should do if you are leading.

If you are trying to continually talk to a chick who is blowing you off, canceling plans, not giving you a precise answer when you try to make plans, she never initiates contact........basically if you were to stop initiating contact, youd probably never hear from her again......that is chasing. And it will never end well.

While I dont believe in "rules of dating" as I tend to do what I want, I and most other people do still follow basic things to make sure we are not in "chase mode".

No double texting without a response back from a chick. If I get blown off, or a chick cancels a date with no counter offer for a raincheck, etc., I am gone.

Its fine to put in effort to talk to a chick or see a chick. Just make sure that you are dealing with a chick that is also putting forth effort to talk to you and see you.

I understand the difference you make, I guess I was seeing pursuing as kind of chasing in a way.

And do you guys usually go and talk to a girl after you made eye contact with her (assuming it lasted a few seconds)?
