who SAYS that what the guy will throw at you will be a punch, instead of an eye gouge, hmm? LETTING somebody hit you is stupid. Violent types typically dont LET you run away, they are on you before you even know anything has begun, typicially, or they just wait for another chance. either at you or somebody else. about the time you TRY that mma "takedown' bs, somebody will stab you in the back, or use a descending hammerfist or elbow and break your spine.

I wish I was that brave. More likely to get stopped & frisked and prisoned than to use firearm in self defense. I do carry a utility knife though, I suppose that could be effectively used to neutralize a close-quarters assailant.
