I would like to here some of your inputs on this topic. I was having this convo with my friend last night and his main argument was that true love comes once and it could be your first or 7th relationship.

I have a little bit of personal experience to share as well , my grandpa married my grandma when they we very young about 18. They were together for about 7 years , had 3 children. My grandpa then moved to Germany , then he got married to a African woman , he still spoke with my grandma but was married. Anyways my grandma stayed single the whole 10 years my grandpa was married to another woman.
The African woman my grandpa married passed away & he came back to my grandma and they have been together for the last 15 years.

When I visit and I hear accounts of their story it sounds like a fairy tale , I was talking to him privately and he said , a man falls in love ONE because we have loyalty , dignity but women go with who is in charge at the moment. I asked what about his second wife and he said , sometimes in a new environment ..some love is better than no love.

Anyways I just wanted to share because I went to their cottage this weekend and they were so in sync , it was like watching a well rehearsed play , what true love looks like. I was shocked because my grandpa was a huge player according to my mom ( she caught him with multiple women ) but he still managed to love my grandma above all the other women in his life.

The problem with this topic is that it is impossible to prove one way or the other. So what to do?

Do I believe that you can forge a deeper connection with a very select few, through a combination of chemistry, compatibility and commitment? Yes. Do I believe there is only one of these possibilities? No.

I think to have an enduring soul-mate type connection, both parties have to be committed to making it work. In your grandparents case, I would argue that they were soul mates while together and committed to each other and they were not when they were apart.

I don't think there is anything mystical to it.

So you're saying that your grandfather married your grandmother at 18. They had three kids, one of which I'm presuming was one of your parents. He split after 7 years, making him 25. He was away for 10 years, making him 35. Now he's been with your grandmother for 15 years, making him 50.

At some point in the last 32 years you purport that one of his children had kids, one of whom was of an age to have you, such that you would be old enough to compose a message on this forum?

Something doesn't make sense here. I smell troll.

You meet people for a reason I believe, but there is no soul mates IMO. Every relationship serves a purpose and it teaches both people involved about themselves an each other

First of all, I'm going to clarify how love (or in this case, interest) works for men and women.

A man is primarily interested in the women who are in his immediate vicinity and time as opposed to a woman he fvcked five years ago.

A woman is primarily interested in men who displayed confidence and gave her emotional fluctuation during the woman's early dating years.

Because of this, men do NOT have soulmates. They have an easier time erasing women from their past. Women on the other hand certainly DO have soulmates. This is why you'll frequently see women going back to their douchebag ex-bfs, only to get hurt over and over again.

Because men have an easier time writing women off from their past, the only time "true love" can occur is if the woman met him during hear late teens / early 20s, and the man is currently with her. The quality of the relationship is irrelevant. He could be beating the 5hit out of her on a daily basis, but as long as they're together, they are experiencing "true love".

FYI my mom was raped and had me at a very young age. Ask questions before sounding like a complete idiot. Oh btw you are right , my mom is 32 years of age , if you need proof pm me.

"Soul mates" is one way of saying two people are in sync, as you put it. I think thats all we're ever talking about in regards to "true love" or whatever sentimental horseshît hollywood and the MSM want to push.

Some people connect and understand each other, some people do not. Some connect more than others, it is a relative matter of degrees, not a binary 1 or 0.

As self-obsessed human beings we love to separate one out of the many and call it something more than what it is, and out of this we derive an identity and a meaning for our lives and it makes us sleep well at night.. For a time at least.

Only when we stop choosing and separating and just live life now can we find joy, as it sounds like your grandpa does.
