Surrender control of your life. One's experience is often created by what other people do. You can't control other people, relax and go with whatever happens, even if it seems bad. If a girl doesn't want to hook up, fine, don't hook up right then. If people gossip, fine, let them gossip, they'll stop soon enough. Just relax and flow.

I'd try to spin it in a way that makes you look like a classy gentleman. You can say something like "She's a cool person. Things didnt work out. We're just better off as friends" Then you'll want to dial back the sexualness with this new girl and tried to build more comfort and then build it back up again a little later.

You with this new girl you just don't want to come off as a player. Take it slow with this girl and then build it back up later. There's hope later.
