I've to admit that I am bad at communicating. I realized if I were to get somewhere in the World, I will have to communicate and do it well. This isn't just a major factor in dating, it's a major factor in life. This isn't how to continue small-talks with a stranger, or how to extend a conversation. Instead, I wish to learn the deeper details of communicating.
Some details I can think of:
- reading the body language (a person saying he enjoyed the show but with no enthusiasm is probably lying)
- Trapping a liar (you suspect she's lying and wants to trap her to admit the truth)
- Reading real intend (a person telling you about myths & legends probably not interested to talk about Greece legends with you, but only wishes to convey that he's intelligent)
- Anticipate what the talker wants to say (I realized that great communicators already have what they want to retort before the original speaker finishes speaking)
- Pausing before speaking and think of consequences that certain words will lead (again, great talkers practice this)
- Tone of voice (some people lower or increase the tone to make a point)
- Testing a person (asks about New York if you suspect that the "New Yorker" girl isn't really one)
There's ALOT more. I got those from my own observation only (IRL and movies such as Ocean's 11) and wish to extend on the knowledge. I haven't been lucky to stumble on materials that covers what I need to know tho. To the great Don Juans, please share your knowledge of this great art.
