Physical Pleasure vs Emotional Agreement

I have been in a lot of relationship but none of them ended in sexual encounter(call me a failure but i did not have sexual urges back when I was young, i was of impression that love and relationship is something divine).

My question is for those who have had sexual relationship going. If there is an ongoing emotional conflict between partners, how does sex play out? Do you still **** at night because physical pleasure can be entertained even when emotional disagreement is in place?

I believe male partner would be in more loss because he actively seek physical pleasure and in order to get that he might have to cool down emotional conflict from his side. Is this applicable for women? Do women cool down on their emotional part to seek physical pleasure.

Is there any reference i can read to understand how physical pleasure align with ongoing emotional agreement between partners?
