I just want to run this through with some people to make sure I am getting this right

So my parents separated when I was five years old.

Now that I am twenty, I have never really been with a girl. Recently things did not work with this one girl that I was talking to and it was going very well for us before.

I think that my parents divorce has affected me on a profound level. I think that this causes me now to have oneitis whenever I meet a girl that I like. I want things to work out perfectly and I want the relationship to be perfect maybe because my parent's marriage did not work. Maybe I think that having a relationship that works out good will make me happy and replace some of the happiness that I lost when my parents divorced. I don't want to face the pain of a relationship that does not work out in the end. As a result, I end up putting more value on the girl and on the relationship than it deserves, blowing everything out of proportions, and dooming all the interactions I have had with the opposite sex.
