online second contact

Though I've had some success meeting women online, I had one particular situation where I sent an initial message, got a response which was actually somewhat enthusiastic, I replied, and then never heard back. So, I forgot about it an moved on. Now, a while later, I notice she keeps showing up in my searches (is still active), and I get that gut-level feeling that she's actually probably pretty cool.

So - the question is, does it ever make sense to try to initiate contact again? And if so, any thoughts on the best way to go about it? Don't diagnose this as a case of "one-itis" - I'm just mildly curious..
