if it`s tl;dr for you, I`m talking about learning that you are the only person who decides your inherent value
I was watching this controversial series, the faces of death and there were several stuntmen who had met their destiny. So there was this guy, wanting to jump across the river with an old Ford from the 70`s, they have added wings and some booster rockets to make that several tonne metallic monster have some basic astrodynamics
as the speeding car left the ramp, the booster rockets proved to be way to strong for the machine, so basically the air`s resistance stripped the car of the bonnet, the wings, of almost everything and was falling appart in mid-air, the parachute barely opened, so the machine crushed into the water and water at that speed on contact has the resistance of concrete
the car was obliterated, the pilot survived thanks to the titanium cage, he got some brain concussions, broken ribs, broken collar bone and some mild hypothermia due to the exposure of cold water
as they were bringing the guy towards the ambulance he was asking "Did i make it? Did I make it? Has everybody seen it? Is everybody happy?"
so what does this little story tell to us?
it exposes one of the basic flaws of the old patriarchal system, that`s not working properly anymore in our over-democratized society
it talks about men being raised with the belief, that they have no inherent worth, the presumption, that their worth is only decided based upon their actions and those actions must be done, in a specific order so they get from subzero to zero than to hero
it talks about the old fashioned idea, that men only supposed to serve and protect, to maintain order, that their worth is basically to which cause they have aligned themselves
what this tells me is that at birth I`m basically a piece of ****, than as I grow up, I have to jump to certain hoops, like a diligent dog in the circus, to prove my worth to the crowd aka society in this case, whose only problem would be watching me and only me
this thing is so bad on so many levels, that`s surprising that men even accept this false reality from the start, they live their life of striving for big watches, suv`s and perfect blonde girlfriends not out of quest for pleasure, but for avoiding some existential angst, which basically is a big fat ****ing lie, the thing that should not be
this is why men are afraid of failure, because they think that they are already in ****, they`ll be worse of in the end and everybody would be laughing at them, like the child believing his center of the world and if he closes his eyes, everybody else is blind and if he hurts his leg, the whole world jumps to the rescue
so don`t be surprised that depression is such a common place among men in the west, that quiet desperation for security and self-torture to find the magical key to open the door to succes can become the lifestyle of many guys
so basically if you believe the lies of society, that you are worth **** from the start and you must prove first, to get to become at least "normal", than this belief is going to poison all of your relationships and I mean all of them
if you believe you are worth ****, you are going to bribe people in some ways, so they`ll notice you, like pose as funny, pose as rich, pose as strong, pose as a great lover, pose as somebody who can pinpoint other`s false poses
pose as whatever you`ve seen in the retarded hollywood movies
pose, pose, pose, pose, hope that people buy it, hope that they accept you, so you can feel good and confident about yourself
so am I against you becoming a model father or against serving your country when in need?
NO
I`m talking about being a provider and a self-sacrificial lamb just so you could make your parents, neighbours, friends, whomever proud, while you consider yourself thrash and just a cog in a giant machine
you see, society has no inherent order, it`s not an emergent uber-being where people are like small cells, it`s just a random pool of people who decided to live in one place, talk the same language, follow some customs, but they aren`t an intelligent crowd, because "crowd" and "intelligence" are diametrically opposed things, because these random people only serve themselves in reality and not society, not the idea we call society as we think of it, as we`ve been told in school about it
everybody is smart enough for their own good, everybody does things, because doing them makes sense for them, from their own internal values system, people pursue the things they want, label people who help them get those as "good" and than try to live their life as best they can, while dogging the problems life may throw at them
what we humans confuse is that there`s a large difference between things that are wholesome from the view of the law and wholesome based on some arbitrary ethical systems
a man that has a glorious career, that provides for his family, a man that accepts the arbitrary custom of having sex only in relationships with a certain amount of women, with perceived "good women", is something that in theory is praised by society, like there`s somebody giving medals of honor for it
so trouble comes, when reality starts to knock on the door, because men like this probably become frustrated due to stress, due to the fact that they haven`t explored their own sexuality in time and generally end up having sex with prostitutes half their age, behind the back of their spouse while she`s catering for the children
there`s your model citizen, overweight, in debt, without real friends, anxious about others view on them, pays for kinky sex in private, looking for ways to cover up his misery, until he throws in the towel in his mid 40`s, when he realizes he wasted more than half of his life living other people`s perceived hallucinations of him
how should you get over your issues?
I don`t know, I have my own in the plenty, all that I know is that life`s short, life`s simple, life`s dirty, life`s not fair, life`s unpredictable
so enjoy it as you can, while it lasts, you never know which moment is your last
if you got the patience, pls read this, it`s well worth your time
