"The only thing we have to fear is ... fear itself."
- Franklin Delano Roosevelt
I just watched the movie, Daredevil, the other day, and though the movie was subpar, I did learn a valuable lesson from "The Man Without Fear."
I was bboying today, and I was making no progress with air freezes (like a one hand handstand with your legs up in an L shape). I became frustrated, and then it hit me. "No Fear." The only way I would nail that freeze would be to have no fear. I must not be afraid of falling and bruising myself if I want to nail it. I must be "The Man Without Fear." So with the mindset of "No Fear" I got myself pumped and hit my first L Kick!
While I contemplated on this later in the night, I realized this motto, "No Fear," could be applied to all aspects of life, including DJing.
What is it that holds us down? Fear.
What is it that stops you from approaching that hot chick? Fear.
Why would you settle for an ok girl when you know you can do better? Fear.
It is fear that keeps us from growing into the men we want to become. Only by doing away with our fears can one accomplish great things. One must not live a life of fear, rather one must live a life of excitement. Nobody wishes to live a life of stagnation, hiding under a rock in loneliness.
Only those who live their lives without fear succeed. So remember this saying next time you go out, "No Fear!"
"NO FEAR!"
Edit: There's also a pretty good post here that compounds upon the "No Fear" idea:
