"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Unfortunately, the majority of my wardrobe is hand me downs from friends and their little brothers who have now outgrown me. So whenever I go out, it tends to be in a pair of pants that is probably at least 10 years old (and looks it), with a grungy 'ol T-shirt.

I'm interested in sprucing up my wardrobe a bit. My good friend (unbelievable DJ, best I've seen up close) recommends "Express" as far as affordable, yet still very nice clothes. He's stuck to Express and Banana Republic (the pretty-boy type).

I've already started taking a little extra care of myself with nicer haircuts, making sure it's done nice before I go out, a good clean shave, small stuff like that. The way I see it, if girls can spend HOURS getting ready to look good and go out, I'm sure they'll appreciate it when they see a clean-shaven guy next to the guy whose hair is a mess and has a five o'clock shadow.

I figure clothes is the next step. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Alexi

PS - Also, I'm not a 'thug' nor do I pretend to be one. So even if you recommend it, don't expect me to go running out to buy the latest FUBU or big ass goofy hat to wear sideways on my head. I'd feel, and look, retarted dressed up like that. I'm asking for clothes more along the lines of what they'd wear in a cheesy ass soap opera.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

seriously, your look is important, but not THAT important, at first, sure, but I've seen guys get women all the time just wearing some cheap looking old outfit like a sleeveless shirt and some cheap looking pants.

But, here is what I've learned. Wear nice clothes, but don't look like you took forever to get dressed, make it look like you just threw something on. As long as you have nice clothes, and they match, it should turn out okay.

here is where I shop: American Eagle, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Structure(or is it express now?), Gap, Rue 21, Sears, Belks, freakin anywhere really I'm a shopaholic just because of the fact there tend to be TONS of women in all of those stores at just about any time of any day.

For me, personally, FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, I end up looking like I'm wearing a high fassion church outfit all the time, and I just throw something on before I leave.

if you really want to know what's "fassionable" or "stylish" then read GQ or Details. It's really best to be able to know what's stylish, but to have your own style at the same time and wear what YOU like. Like I wear grey pants pretty much all the time. I just put a matching shirt or t-shirt over them.
