"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Before I get into it just know that I have read the DJbible and have been reading this site for a few months. Now to my problem.

Be prepared for a long post.

I do everything that I can to prevent myself from moving into the dreaded "friends" category and it never works. I meet alot of girls. I'm confident. I act like a jerk but still remain funny and confident (alot of girls tell me I'm funny). I compliment rarely. I'm never the first to initiate conversation (ie. Text message, IM, email, call). Girls actually end up talking to me alot and I am almost never without one texting me. Girls send me myspace requests....and ask for my number after we've talked on aim, I don't even have to ask and I make no hints of wanting to talk to her after that. Within a week I'll usually have hung out with a new girl I stay close play some light kino, make conversation, and I can't say that I haven't had fun going out with one lately. I'll usually end up spending time with them personally ie. alone time between us. But the big problem is I ALWAYS end up a friend. One of the most recent girls I've talked to (about 2weeks ago we met) told me that I was her best guy friend... I thought it would work then I was like fukk after I heard that. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

The only logical answer I can come up with is that its because of my looks.

Now before you start saying I don't dress right I don't have good hygiene etc. I'll tell you right now thats not true I do whatever I can. I'm on prescription acne medication (my face has cleared up), I shower daily and have great hair (the girls love to feel it), I work out t hough I do have a gut, I've lost about 15lbs recently and I'm right on with the average weight for my height (6,1), I'm tan, I dress stylish with dressie type shoes (kswiss), a polo shirt, and khakis or jeans. My facial features aren't the greatest though. heh

I'd like to think it's not just my looks but I can't think of anything I'm doing wrong.

Help? Thoughts? Suggestions?

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

It's obvious that you have a lisp and girls think you're gay.
