My friend is stalking my ex-gf? Is my best friend a typical AFC or just desperate?

I don't know what to think here:

My best friend who I've known since we were kids told me he's following my ex-gf on Instagram and Facebook. He's also a 20 something virgin and he's pretty AFC to me. And he desperately wants a girlfriend and wants to get married one day. To say for sure he's a hard-core AFC.

To be clear. He doesn't know her and never met her before nor will he ever meet her. So why would he care so much as to stalk my ex-girlfriend? By stalking I don't mean he's physically stalking her. She's just a hot gf that I used to have but turned out to be BPD.

I think this is strange and fvck-up but I don't think like an AFC. Is this normal?

Is it wrong for me to think that this friend would stab me in the back for a girl one day?

Yeah, it's pretty normal unfortunately. If this is a recent ex of yours, news for you, this guy is -not- your best friend, no matter how long you've known each other. On the off chance he just isn't thinking, ask him how he'd feel in the reverse situation. Tell him it's not a matter of you still wanting to be with her, but of your "best friend" not innately knowing to stay away from his "best friend's" recent exes for reasons you shouldn't have to explain, the main one being that this is a person you want out of your life and anything he seeks with her ends up bringing her back in due to his relationship with you.

Your typical AFC IS dcesperate. - Thats what makes him "AFC" -Average Frustrated Chump aka desperate clueless loser.

Unfortunately theres no way to save these guys, they must make steps to save themselves.

You can teach and tell till youre blue in the face, but they wont listen.

Every man needs his OWN wakeupcall before he can be helped.

This crap happens all the time. One of my friends started hitting up my ex out of nowhere. Really helps you filter out your acquaintances with your actual friends.

I would never think about doin that to someone i care about.
