"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

So I go out on a first date with this girl at a restraunt I like and it seems to be going ok. Lots of eye contact some good laughs and she seems to be enjoying herself and I'm having a decent time as well. Towards the end of the meal when we are boxing up the food she hands me her leftovers and tells me that I should take them with me. We had to meet at the restraunt instead of me picking her up because I was at work until 7:00. I take this as a sign of her telling me that her interest is low, and thats really ok with me because i've got two other dates in the next 3 days (thank you sosuave board). Then we get out to the parking lot she gives me a hug and says you should defenitly call me...? Before this point I had already kind of crossed her off the list.

Was she just saying this to be polite? I mean we ended the date at like 9:00pm and if her interest was high it would have seemed to me that she would have wanted the night to continue.

Should I even call this girl for a second date or wait and see if she calls me?

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

If you don't know the girl at all and this is your first date then it is not uncommon for a date to finish early, so I wouldn't worry about this too much.

I think in your situation there is no way of telling whether or not she is interested...your only option is to phone her up.

she gives me a hug
Now, I may be a little off base here, but a hug is not something a girl gives on a first date unless:

1. She's got a low-interest level
2. You're too afraid to KISS HER, so she hugs you

Granted, this was only the first date, but getting a hug instead of a kiss is a bad sign. Of course, it isn't ALWAYS bad, but it IS a sign of waning interest.

My advice: Call her and set up another date. If she is still interested you'll get the date or get her on the phone.

But I'm telling you, it looks like her interest level is dropping, so the next date you need to do two things:

1. Do something ACTIVE and FUN (dinner at a restaraunt? BORING!)
2. KISS HER and initiate some random touching throughout the night.
